    self righteous prick
The only people that would get upset about what I typed are the people who aren't confident they'd be fine in those situations. I guess you know you're not that great and allow yourself for the, "shit happens" moments.

People crash, indeed. However, the crashees don't need to chalk it up to a simple quote, resulting in gaining absolutely no insight from the upset and learning absolutely nothing at the end.

There's a plethora of viable options to you for learning your limits on a motorcycle in a controlled environment, without resulting in collateral damage to innocent commuters. KB Mentors, track days, organised learner rides, advanced trainings...

If you're of the opinion that you need to hit a wing mirror to find your limit in order to back off, I think you need a slight adjustment in how you view motorcycling.

Yeah the super high standard I hold of not clipping fellow commuter's vehicle while lanesplitting sure is an unobtainable one...

In which of the aforementioned "environments" you mentioned are there real life scenarios of lane splitting practiced? (therefore, not controlled, is it). For what it's worth I paid a great deal (to me) of money when I first started learning how to ride. I do have a mentor. I have been to a track day. I have been to organised learner rides and I am planning to go to a pro rider course next month. Really, I don't know what more I could do, I'm trying really hard and I've clocked up just over 4k in the 10.5 or so weeks I've been riding, not much to some but something I'm happy with. I'm not a natural, and I have a lot to learn but hey at least I'm not giving up and sitting in the corner having a cry cause I fucked up. I felt really bad, I have total respect for the property of other people and I wasn't happy. While a lot of what you're saying is very much valid, you're kind of being a tad unrealistic with some of your ideals and frankly, a little bit of a dick.

You felt bad, you've likely learnt to be more cautious in the width you're able to filter through, it's a lessoned learnt. If you're of the impression I was attacking you for hitting a mirror and feeling like shit, that's not the case. I was only talking about the people who chalk it up to, "shit happens" and refuse to learn from their shortfalls or ignore it altogether.

Clearly you've got insight into what you've done wrong and (hopefully) have gained caution because of it. I've no beef with you~

You're glossing over the conversations and cherry-picking arguments, so I'll quote myself and bow out. You've obviously got some anger you need to vent through your fingertips, so I'll let someone else handle that. <3

Shit DOES happen and by shit, I mean mistakes. I don't like to even accidentally walk in to someone on the street let alone hit someones car - who would? It's how you choose to reflect on and learn from said "shit" that's important. I just felt terrible I couldn't do anything, not even stop and apologise. I was going so slow and didn't hit them so hard that really, I doubt I did any damage, but of course, I'm not sure.

I thought imdying covered the damage thing rather well actually. Are you alright? Maybe you could do with some air?

Besides, if you don't stop, how would you know if you'd done damage or not. Sure a little scratch repair might be a bit precious, but that's their property and thus their right to get precious about.

    That was a good'un.

You're over-reacting a wee bit though, eh? You were unprepared for the situation you encountered and had an unpleasant experience splitting in heavy Auckland traffic for the first time. I'm sure you'll learn, practice and improve. Perhaps you should read post #23 again and be really careful next time?

ahhh cherry picking? you state that......" I was only talking about the people who chalk it up to, "shit happens" and refuse to learn from their shortfalls or ignore it altogether." I believe that "shit happens" was my comment in this thread. I believe that I also stated that I stopped, looked at the mirror and waved ok with the driver. That is not, "refusing to learn from my shortfalls or ignoring it all together"

so who do you have a beef with?
