    2003 SV1000S for sale

For sale is my SV1000S. See trademe for pics.

Bought from Colemans in Auckland 2011 with me being only the second owner since new.

This is in great condition with full service history from new and original manual, toolkit and rear seat cowl which is colour matched.

I have used this daily since purchase with absolutely no problems. This is my only vehicle so it has been looked after well.

Last service 4000kms ago with good valve clearances and no other issues.

These bikes are known to be one of the best all rounders with great low down grunt and good handling.

Bike has unmodified engine with excellent dual two brothers exhaust - best sounding one for these bikes.

Oil is still clear - has never used oil either

These bikes are known to have leaking clutch slave cylinders - I have upgraded the seals to the newest model and this has never used any fluid since.

    WOF till 6/13
    Rego till Dec 13

This is a buy and ride deal - nothing is due on this bike apart from the usual maintenance.

Would you rather buy something that has been thrashed on the weekends or a daily used bike looked after well which needs to be reliable.

Most of the miles are motorway only so despite the higher mileage, the bike has not been under any duress.

Feel free to ask any questions - I am only selling to move to a super sport type bike for a change.

    Comes with:
    - Manual and service book with full history
    - Spare pillion seat - cowl on bike
    - Tool kit
    - Oxford LEDicators (rear) installed - correct flash rate
    - Two brothers exhausts - best sounding for this model
    - Good tread left on tyres - see pics
    - Spare key
    - Lots of rego/WOF remaining

Could be keen on swap/trade for 06 onwards 600cc sport bike + some cash your way

Once again great condition bike with full records - hard to find these days!

    Reserve lowered for quick sale!

Why not just sell it normally ? Or do you intend on scamming some poor smuck ?

You seem to have a problem with how anyone is selling their bike mate - whats it gonna take for you to STFU. Get some happy pills mate.

Anyway there are many reasons $1 Reserve works well

    1) Guaranteed sale at specified time - for a bike like SV1K it would have taken months to start getting offers/bids - at least I know I have a sale happening when this ends. I do not want to wait months like most bikes on trademe to sell esp as I have negotiated down the price on my next bike.

    2) Fair market value - people can actually put down their max bid and test the market- when its offers only/fixed price people just wait for auctions to end or just watch. At least I get a sale at the best price somebody is willing to pay for it at the time. In my experience items at the lower end of the price spectrum tend to get better prices this way rather than at fixed price.

    3) Much more interest generated - I had 50 views in the first couple of days - as soon as I made it $1 reserve had 350+ views - more views equals more potential buyers

And as for scamming - I would be more worried if I was a dealer selling at $1 reserve as it negates your rights under CGA buying at auction. However at private sale it is the buyers due diligence anyway that will protect them.
In fact I have provided more info than almost any other bike auction out there. I have nothing to hide as you can read on the description, this is my daily vehicle so it has to be upto scratch. Better than most of the bikes which have no service history and have not been looked after as well.

That's not completely true, a lot of bike sells then are "Relisted due to time wasters"

That's also not completely true as shill bidders can ramp the price up.

    3) Much more interest generated - I had 50 views in the first couple of days - as soon as I made it $1 reserve had 350+ views - more views equals more potential buyers

Most which are tyre kickers that don't have $500 to rub together but they still bid to three or four thousand sometimes

And as for scamming - I would be more worried if I was a dealer selling at $1 reserve as it negates your rights under CGA buying at auction. However at private sale it is the buyers due diligence anyway that will protect them.

You have got a well written add and the photos are good, what I'm trying to say is I know the bike market pretty well and I'm surprised yours is already at $3200 plus ??

    Good luck with the sale.

Why? I'd be more than happy to pay that for the bike, in fact I put the $3010 auto bid on when I saw the $1 reserve...someone else obviously had the same idea and out bid me at $3k...I basically put what I'm willing to pay for something in an auto bid, if I win...sweet, if I don't...oh well, move onto the next item I'm looking at...I've gotten some very good deals because of that.

You obviously don't know the bike market as well as you think, or how $1 reserve auctions tend to work.
