Here's a Suzuki GP125 service manual for those who are keen.

I spent some time at Tim's (cotsworld) place on Anzac day talking crap about bikes and figuring out how we can get some economies of scale going on with our GP125 builds. Being the good bastard he is, he gave me some... ummmm... used GP125 cases and a test bed GP100 cylinder for some time on the grinder before jumping into mine. THANKS TIM!

I haven't touched my GP engine in some time as selling my Datsun drift car and CA study has been getting in the way. I started undressing her tonight though and took some photos along the way.

I took some photos of the filthy factory ports for reference too. I didn't expect that at BDC the piston still covers the bottom of the ports creating a step.

The cases are apart now after an ordeal trying to get those stuuuuupid case bolts out with the phillips heads, what shit idea that is. I ended up drilling a bunch out which where corroded in down the thread. Here are some photos, next I'll jump into the dummy casings with the grinder



The size of a 125 amuses me greatly, coming for a car background. I really enjoy the ease of handling everything, no engine crane or massive engine stands and heavy manifolds etc.

Good stuff, told you the case bolts would be fun Drilling?
Can you get that shaft apart ? if not bring it over and I'll do it and get it sent off with the others.

They are still heavy enough, I spent an hour last week holding one up on & off while we fckd around with mounting spacers into RS125 frame for a local bike.

Put engine in front of a fan heater for an hour & use an impact driver which I assume you did.

I'd also just like to point out that the very skilled Nathaniel Diprose won the Tokoroa GP on a NF4 RS with barely more than 20hp... but he'd probably still win with 14hp

It has a fair amount to do with the fact that ND and his bike weigh a least 40kg less than the competition...

The bucket forum has been pretty quiet lately, I wonder what everyone is up to?

Anyway I'm currently studying for my first CA exam tomorrow when this large box lands on my door. What could it be...



A few NX4 RS125 chambers, horay. They're in really good condition except for a dent in one of the mufflers but that'll push out.
Man I love the efficient Japanese postal system. EMS to my door took under 4 days from the time I paid my supplier via paypal! One of these is for TZ Rob because hell if I'm bringing in one, I may as well bring in another as they don't come up on trademe very often do they.

I'm looking forward to finishing this exam so I can really start working on the engine. It has been just over 3 weeks since riding at Tokoroa and I'm starting to get the shakes, complete withdrawal symptoms. Fingers crossed this weekend is dry

It has a fair amount to do with the fact that ND and his bike weigh a least 40kg less than the competition...

So his power to weight ratio is pretty good but its his amazing form thats making everyone else look so ordinary.
ps. There are a lot of good power to weight packages out there these days - my bike 27hp, bike and rider 145kg combined (including fuel and lunch), Glen on the RSFXR about the same, Avalon on the RSGP probably less, etc etc

Yeah I have, been adjusting the powervalve lever that hits the inside of the case due to suspected tol. of the wire piece that actuates it. Hey its Spanish.

My poor bucket is still as I left it come back from Tokoroa, but the spare clutch basket is being machined to bolt back together & I just dropped the RS125 muffler off to Cycleworks to make a longer quieter version.

Another great weekend at Mt Wellington this weekend. I was really enjoying myself and got some great starts which I was pretty chuffed on. In the second points race I was following Henk around as he tried and succeeded to past Dave Diprose in the mid field. Feeling very confident in myself I started to line him up too but I ran out of talent and ate shit into turn one when I grabbed too much brake. Thankfully my dad was shooting on that corner and managed a few frames of me skipping along the concrete. I got away with a solid bit of rash on my hip which swelled up pretty impressively and a sprained thumb but otherwise pretty good... bike still goes

Time to update the 13 and 7 year old tires, get a smaller rear sprocket and some more practice I think. Never the less I still managed a 31.03s PB lap in that last race which is my best time to date on Mt Wellington. SO close to that 30s bracket!
