Oh well at least it was something to do for 30 seconds.
I must admit to wondering when asking for the licence applied. Every enforcement action should have a reason don't you think?

Perhaps he should ... but he was a little behind in knowing what the law is now.

"At the Implementation of photo Drivers licenses" ... the writer was correct. But as I recall ... the law was changed to the driver of a vehicle must produce their license on demand .. or be subject to a fine.

OP: You deserved to get a ticket for being a cock. Teasing a cop and making us all look like a bunch of bastards isn't earning you any respect.

Please refrain from posting yarns like this in future unless they involve you getting your comeuppance.

Yeah but there is also likely to be another piece that limits when it can be demanded. The assumption is it is being demanded because you have committed a traffic infringement in which case even he admits it must be produced but if it is a demand for id then a whole raft of non-traffic related laws come into play, privacy etc. all the way back to the magna carter.

True. But the law also allows an officer to detain you for the purpose of establishing your identity. Producing your licence with photo id is sufficient proof of identity.

Assumptions are the Mother of all fuck-ups ...

The law is quite clear. While driving the license must be carried and produced on demand. Subject to fine of $200 if you cannot.

Your photo driver license is your official legal permission to drive on New Zealand roads. Your license card does carry information that verifies that you are ... who you SAY you are ... but also lists the vehicles you're qualified to drive and any conditions/endorsements (like the wearing of glasses) you're required to meet when driving.

The random stopping of vehicles is legally permitted in New Zealand. No offense needs to be seen prior to this. This can (and is usually) be followed by a breath test.

You can be arrested and placed in custody until your identity can be confirmed.

See how easy it is to give up your civil liberties

Can't be detained without reason then Photo licences to ensure the popo are talking to the right person but not id cards of any sort - promise, to now you can be arrested for not having it to identify yourself. Bugger Tui missed some good billboards.

Come on mate, I am sure he had a little chuckle afterwards.

I can tell you a good cop commonsense story. This was in Argentina when I had to rush a very sick guy to hospital. I was doing 140-150 kph in a Mitsi ute with the sick quy proped up in the back seat looking dead. I came up on a police car with flashing lights travelling in the same direction. I had the hazard lights on and I had to overtake the police. I didn't know what would happen next but I watched for any reaction, nothing !! The must have worked it out. Imagine trying that in New Zealand.

You don't get that silly playing with just one.

(And we have to share the roads with the likes of him...)

Hell, I didn't know you could get 2 cocks. Mine is the standard early 60's super single with a nice circumcision job for a little extra speed. The ginga trim is probably where my problems lie.
