Horse-wankers complained about pukekohe race track. In response the council has enforced building code changes requiring any new building or renovation has to be made with more expensive soumd proofing gib. So property values around the track have dropped and the track has the same usage.

Im Starting a petition which I intend to lobby the Auckland council with as well as to pressure government, also I will post up details of some community meetings that will be happening soon.

Why you ask ?? well I have recently moved into Westmere and im fucked if Im going to listen to the fucking speedway this coming season !! and frankly why should I, why should anyone!!

Noise like this should be outside the city limits only, the public SHOULD NOT have to listen to this week after week anymore !!
I figure I have a good few months to get the job done.

Given the crack down on noise produced by motorcycles (and cars too) at pukekohe which as far as im concerned is in the middle of butt fuck nowhere, im suprised western springs hasnt already had action taken against it.

100s of people are slightly displeased by a hum in their house for a few hours a week. 10's of thousands of people are paying for the pleasure. The springs promotes Auckland, brings millions of dollars to the local economy and is a venue for huge bands to be able to play in Auckland (yes there are other options like mt smart but the competition will keep prices lower for promoters of the bands who will be able to afford to bring the big names down here).

Don't get too wound up over this as the OP is full of shit. Locals have been trying unsuccessfully to shut down speedway at The Springs for years. Quasi's KB activity of late suggests there'd be more chance of him being arrested for disorderly behaviour and trespassed from Western Springs before he ever made one iota of difference to speedway there.

End result ..

Noise levels are monitored from the start to the finish of each race. The levels must not exceed 90dBA L10 for 60 per cent of the total races on any night, and 88dBA L10 for the remaining 40 per cent of the races. The Kiwi-Kids class must comply with a level of 85dBA L10.

Going by the amount of whinging at the time ... about serious HP losses by/if conforming to the existing regulations .. it is a safe bet to say that reduction in noise levels were ordered (even if only to being under existing regulation levels).

To NOT do so ... would have meant the closure of the Speedway.
