I guess it's the old adage, you have to experience it... Sadly for me that is unlikely now, but I live in hope.

Yeah, I broke my back in a car accident which has left me with a permanent disability and a ladderwork of Titanium. I can walk and drive, but along with a chronic illness and Osteoporosis, I have been strongly advised by my surgeon not to risk paraplegia by riding a bike anymore. One fall could do it.

I can't even jog, let alone run... But I'm alive and still upright, so make the most of each day!

I keep involved in motorcycling through racing sponsorship and business though. And who knows, one day...

From what you have just posted (only), I assure you that you are in a better physical, let alone mental state than Bucketboy.

We do, and I'm not for a minute saying "Woe is me!" There are many who are a lot worse off and proving the strength of their spirit.

Certainly it hurts not being able to indulge a love I've had for 43 years now, but I do have to consider the consequences and the feelings of my family. My wife in particular has had to put up with me being wheelchair bound a few years ago and again nearly dying in the accident. She couldn't face me being a cripple again and I wouldn't want to put her through that, (again), if I can avoid it.

So it is my choice not to ride and take that risk. If it was only me, I would never have sold my bike and would still ride regardless. Younger people who still bounce when they fall can come back a lot easier and heal faster. With my condition and Osteo, I won't bounce, I'll just shatter...

Don't think I've met him. Sounds like my kinda guy...other than his taste in bikes of course.

I always wonder how the riders of Hyperbikes can endure the open road speed limits here. These things are comfy to cruise at double that
Done Matamata to Cambridge in just under 30mins. Didn't look at the speedo, pretty sure I was above the limit by 1 or 2kph though.
Favourite road would have to be from Matamata to Tauranga going over the Kaimais. Lots of good sweepers going up the hill. Whoever said these bikes are only good in a straight line is wrong and really needs to ride one round a good set of bends to see how confortable they are. Pop alright wheelies to depending on how loose your wrist is...

There's a nice back-road through there, I think it goes through a place starting with T? We lived in Morrinsville until 14 years ago when we moved up here, so I got to know the Waikato pretty well.

That part I don't miss... A huge Bumble Bee hits like a stone at your visor! Washing bugs off the front of everything was a regular chore!

This is a busaVzx14 thread but hey ! Luck was on my side Sunday on the north side of the Tukas. I'm heading up and a clown with 4 or 5 metre lengths of corrigated iron propped up on the cab of a small truck was heading down. From thirty metres I saw the iron lifting and pinned it ! just missed me, could've had my ugly head off.
Made me think for a bit,......... 64yrs and still here.

One of my wife's old biking mates from Taihape did lose his head that way. He was passing the truck and the truck driver saw a headless biker pass him. That was about 40 years ago...
