    Greetings from Germany (Loniko)

    Hi,

at first I want to imagine myself. My Name is Thomas, 22 years old. Right now I am living in Germany (Northern Part, near the Baltic Sea), but I'll fly on 28th of September to NZL for my Work&Travel year...
I dont want to buy a car, so I've chosen a bike to drive around... That's why I signed up here.
Looking for a bike, looking for some roads, Information and some guys/Girls, who take a tour with me, if I had found a nice bike.

I already search bikes for some time.. I've only found trade.me for used bikes. Are there any more pages, where I can have a look for motorcycles? I'm looking for a dual purpose/adventure bike, especially a BMW GS 1100/1200.
Engine size should be more than 900cc.. Cost for registration are 600 NZD, if more than 600cc. I am right?
Sometimes i read something about rego?! What's that? Registration? How long is WOF valid? 1 year?

Here are some informations for those People, who want to help me..
Type: dual purpose/adventure --> BMW GS, KTM Adventure
    engine size: +900cc
    Price: around 8000 NZD
It would be nice, if there are already panniers on it..

I think that's it for the first time..

If there are any questions, just asked me.

    Thanks for helping me!

LOL, if he doesn't you can always ask me

Anyway, hi Thomas, welcome to kb. Trademe is probably the best site to look for bikes. A lot of bike shops advertise on Trademe, too. But maybe someone else knows some other good websites.

In regards to roads and routes, there is the 'New Zealand Motorcycle Atlas' which I've heard good things about. And of course, there is a lot of information available in this forum. If you get yourself the Motorcycle Atlas and maybe a tourist guide for NZ those will be a good place to start. But I wouldn't make too many plans. Just come to NZ and then decide what to do and where to go. You have an entire year, after all. Oh and you might want to look up BBH for cheap accommodation all over NZ.
