Want shed inspiration? The 12-Gauge Garage

Was cruising around the web last night, dreaming about how I might set up my new garage, come man cave, once I get all the moving shit out of it and I stumbled across the following site

Thought it was so impresive that I would share with those that may apreciate it (the Mrs could see what was so amasing about it). Really proves that you dont need a big shed sometimes (although it helps), just a well organised functional space.

Thanks for the mention. I don't see it as any kind of model of the perfect garage -- just a place that I put together for the things I do. It's not usually as clean as you see in the pictures. Not by a long shot. But it goes back to clean pretty quickly.

I wish I was pedantic sometimes... I can barely move in my garage for " 3 month projects" that have been there for a year of two...... my observation is that no matter how big your garage is it will fill up with " handy crap" and projects. Anyone want a 1/2 finished VW beetle project? its on TM

That damn garage is a testament to the owner pottering around and making it "just right".

Figure if I attempted that, the garage itself would take a few years, let alone all the projects it's supposed to support!

As I said above, what I loved about it was for the space that you have how functional it is for the tasks in which you under take. I dont see it as a model for a perfect garage (can even such a thing exists?) but there are certinally ideas within it which have made me think a little harder about how I may go about the laying out of my own workspace, rather than just bolting a bench to the wall and hoping for the best.

And as you had taken the time to share your garage with the world by making, and maintaing the website, it only feels fair to share that information with like minded souls who can apreacte the form and the functionality of the space.

To you Jack I raise my glass for a job well done.

The web page software makes a list of where people are coming from. So if there are enough hits from a site I've never heard of, I try to visit the site to see if I can answer any questions, or maybe get into an argument with someone.

The latest garage project was building a deck in my tiny little back yard. I took this:



And (slowly -- because it was in my spare time) turned it into this:



Needless to say, the garage was getting pretty trashed in the course of the work.



But I had to clean everything up in the middle of the project because Hot Rod magazine wanted to shoot a model in the shop.



Strange things happen when you clean up your garage.
