eek Hello! Noobest of the noobs reporting in (JiB)

    Hello from hilly Birkdale,

I've been lurking here a while trying to figure out what and how to get my licence and bike gear. I've been messing with bike powered race cars for years, and I've finally succumbed to the bike bug (with the wife's blessing even ).

I went with Rider Training to get my BHS certificate, would highly recommend them, had a great experience!

Managed to get second hand 2 piece leathers and boots from Trademe, and the best helmet I could afford (currently borrowing a friend's gloves). I have also recently bought a 1996 Honda Hornet CB250F; some new tyres, wof, rego, and a service later it's ready to ride!

I hope to make it to NASS event soon (unfortunately, I''m not quite comfortable riding in the wet/dark yet).

Last but not least, I have to thank Kiwibiker for all the help I've already gleaned from the forums!

    Welcome to kb
    Sounds like you're all sorted.
Congrats to the bike. Heard the Hornet is a great choice. Have my eye on one as my next bike, too.
    Have fun and safe riding

Hah, I like to think I'm closer to Birkenhead, but I don't think that's true.... Am in fact a birk living in Birkdale.

It's reasonably easy to ride. My first go on a bike was an srv250, and had a bit of a go on a motarded wr250r. I ideally I want a motard, but figure I should learn on something low first because I'm a short arse.

I won't lie, the real reasons I bought the hornet because I liked the look of the 180 rear tyre and the sound it makes. Not particularly good reasons I suppose.

I don't see why not. It's the same reason everyone else bought one.

It's been ages since I ran a 180 rear and I'm a tad deaf. What does the noise they make sound like?

Good things take time, besides, gives me an excuse not to go riding with people like you.
