I remember you recently haranguing an opponent for resorting to name calling.

I am yet to meet a politician who actually doesn't swindle the system either during or after.
Off the top of my head:
- Helen Clarke dedicates funds and forces to UN during 1999-2006, was magically appointed Administrator of UN development funds in 2009. Her replacement - David Sheerer, is ex-head of UN.
- Tuariki Delamere reforms the immigration policy in mid-90's, creating loopholes (such as proof of funds, and a points system) for immigration consultancies to "assist" with Department of Immigration (Affairs) to deal with a backlog. TD&A is formed in 1996, 2 months after these reforms. When Tuariki resigns from Goverment in 1998 after trying to coup from Winston. In 1999 TD&A is renamed Tuariki Delamere and Associates (after 12 month stand-down) and is the main consultancy for all immigration "special interests" (people coming to interest with lots of money).
I am sure you can find plenty more about liars who get elected. Greenpeace agreements with DOC, Construction firms and the directors of, Consultancies and government contracts.
I would love to see the 2 degrees of separation between the beehive and novopay - because if it was any other contractor their arses would be caverns due to the reaming they would have received.
People often ask me why I don't vote. My reply is simple. I don't eat shit and smile. Why would I waste my time to elect people I don't want.
If you do - your'e and idiot. Eat shit and smile.

agreed about the "thick as thieves " , but voting is useful in any shape or form , ,me mum stood for office , In order to loose , what she was doing was taking votes AWAY from the incumbent retard to allow the real person to get in ... she , the real person, is still in the beehive and as far as I know , is as honest as u will get ...

"If you ask for the thing you dislike the least - will you ever get what you need?"
Can't remember who said it - suspect it was Maslow or one of his students.
Respect to your mother. I doubt I would last very long there - I have access to explosives, and a very low tolerance for not fixing problems.

Agreeeded. I guess if it's a free for all you can't blame the polly's for abusing the system really.
I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!
this post got me a red rep?
please dear KB, add a sarcasm smiley.
everyone who knows me a bit on this forum should have known that the only one who thinks this is funny is Dear Leader Key.
Please the next time give me a red rep for something that at least is offensive.
thanks

I think it's funny.
I don't hold with completely unrestricted behaviour for any entity, much less one that can fuck my life over as extensively as the administration. But you've only got to look at the second of those links to see what's become of journalism over the last generation. They've gone from collectors of relevant news to ratings-driven scaremongers to a wide range of narrow minded activists, fact free and politically polarised as all hell. It's obvious that a great many of them see themselves as enemies of the govt, or at least the govt's policies, and it comes as no surprise that a govt would eventually see them as exactly that.
If you can hold the government responsible for the work it does why can't you hold the news industry responsible for the damage they do? After all the power the govt seeks for the GCSB already exists, and no reporter ever had the slightest compunction in gathering data using exactly the same methods.
Me? I'd do both. Somehow.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon
Ocean1, the second link leads to a blog in California run by a rather astute observer of US Politics. She has been at this for 10+ years now and is in not obscure in the States. And while she might be a Democrat she is one without blinkers or pink glasses.
I actually thought all three links were funny to the extend that it shows how the world is intertwined, and just because dear leader would like this issue to be considered Non-news, or half-news here, does not mean it is Non/Half News elsewhere. Global world, information Highway, what goes around comes around lather rinse repeat.
People the world over do not like the spying by the US, and they surely don't appreciate the Leaders of their Countries to give in.
Surely that milk from Obamas Teat can't be that delicious?
The spy bill, the loss of freedom, the loss of privacy of our movements, our comunications is not funny per se....but sometimes one has to giggle, or else we will be constantly crying.
I think its called Gallows Humor.
However, I really was hoping that my first red bling would be for something offensive.
Oh well I have to try harder then...
