Cheers for all the replies guys seems theres a shitload of options out there. Will do some reading and measurements and go from there, wish at times i hadnt bought a bike this frong snot green colour as its virtually impossible to get right ie someone mentioned another set of fairings to cut.A few blokes on the TL site with bikes the same colour havent had any luck getting the paint matched either.

You could always go for an entire new paint job.

If you're so smitten by snot green, try a different shade of snot?

Try some hi rise clip ons first you may not want to go higher Mike, have seen some woodcraft ones on ebay of varying heights .
You can get some 3" ones and if you find they are to high you can drop them the forks, going to next level opens a whole new can of worms .

I've got Renthal MX bars on the CB900, but it's not nearby so no pics for you.

Cable length wasn't an issue for the change, but if the change is drastic then yes, you may need longer cables, and watch for clearance (tank and fairing). Hornet is naked, so no problems. The suggestion of a spare top fairing was a goody, never know if you will like it.

The riding position is quite a change, and on the Hornet which is a reasonably big bike, most average sized people find the riding position stretches them too much and isn't comfortable. I'm 6'3, so like it and it feels quite nice. It does make the bike a bit too wide to split through a lot of gaps, but hey, not a problem down your way!

Put some flat -ish bars on the R80 (the stock ones were stupidly narrow, Much better now and lots more leverage, took the wobbly clocks off and replaced with an acewell unit.

Been thinking about this post this afternoon mate and come to the conclusion i am just going to have to cut the fairing, really looking for higher and wider,3" isnt going to do i dont believe, the idea 1st came when over the coast awhile back having a laugh in some really tight twisty stuff i just thought fuck this thing would be a hoot with a different bar setup, might get the young fella from Dunedin on here (hayden ?) to have a look at the fairing sometime, plenty have cut them up on the TL site so can give him some pics of what i am aftercould even run a beading around the area thats been cut rather than piss about trying to match paint.

Then after my off at the hillclimb I modded the stock triple with mx fat bars to raise even higher this is where things really start new brake lines and clutch cable and you have re route throttle and fast idle cables and cutting fairings and screen cannot remember how long I ran this setup then got a LSL top triple off Stu in Aussie ran this for a year or so but didn't like the feel position of bars and as I had one of van's top triple I worked a way out made plates and with big solid washers and mounted to vans top triple .
Lost a heap of old pic's when my pc died but will add a few I have of LSL thro not on bike and not so current setup as I have since added
    hydro clutch and brembo masters

Can you just take it off for testing? be a shame to go cutting things up if its not exactly what you want. Also bear in mind a large change on the bars may well mean a change on the pegs/seat is required too.

While on the discussion about bars, where the best place to get of the little riser blocks that bring the bars back a bit? As Gremlin has mentioned Hornets are a bit long and I like a straightish bar so some of these riser/back things may be the trick.

Will definately do that mate, cant imagine i will have to do anything with the seat and i have pegs that are well adjustable.Been aving a gander over on the TL site and spoken to a few blokes that have gone with the higher bars, theres from time to time whole setups inclusive of lines etc come up for sale. The setup Sam has (2nd pic) i would love to try,his words "just turns it into an overweight motocross bike"...but i want to keep the fairing,or whats left of it.

Used the suggestion earlier - this may be the simplest option presuming it fits your fork conversion. Looking at it they are running a high bend bar in the photo and I suspect as it is set back a lot more than the clip-ons clearance is not a issue.

I like fat bars myself as theres no flex... Pro taper, Zeta or Rizomas, as mentioned before you need to make sure youve got enough room to fit all ya switchblocks and levers, you dont want any lever mounted on the taper or bend as it will look naff and its a real pita to use. (awkward sometimes long reach)
