Yeah, I realised after I posted that it could be taken two ways.

What does bug me is when proponents and practicers of Homosexuality try to claim it is approved by God, or should be, and that one can be a Christian and a homosexual as though this exonerates them in the sight of God.It doesn't at all and does not alter the fact that homosexulaity is condemned in the Bible, like it or not.

Also the churches twisting or blatantly denying the scriptures to support homosexuality is hypocrisy of the highest order. That does not surprise me though, the churches have never let the scriptures get in the way of their agendas and desire for power and popularity.

Certainly, as I did say, everyone has the inherent right to make their own choices in life, but to try to excuse it on religious, or any other grounds, really, indicates a bothered conscience. Not all do, of course but a significant number of them do.

Well what way was it supposed to be taken then?

As far as I can tell you're the only one to bring that argument up, straw man is it?

While I am definitely not Christian (and have an abiding dislike for the religion) I have to agree with you Ed - I fail to see how Christinity can be used to justify or excuse homosexuality ...

Mind you, I have also heard church ministers (ordained and all) deny the resurrection and divinity of Jesus .. so if even that can be denied by so-called Christians .. then anything goes .. which is partly why I have an abiding dislike odf the religion ... it is supposedly the divine revelations of a God - but it can be over-ruled and changed by Man .. No wonder it has no moral authority any more ..

No, what I meant to say, was about those who promote it as being good, such as I mentioned before, the media HAS to be enthusiastic about homosexuality and say publicly how wonderful it is when they personally may be repulsed by the thought. Some members here have shown the same attitude in the past.

Most members are raving heterosexuals, of course.

Fully agree. The Bible is only an authority to those who agree with it. That's because of Mankind's inherent right to free will and choice. We choose our own authority. Christendom in particular has never adhered to the scriptures and is the ultimate example of lying hypocrisy.

    You're welcome

Not as in the Cabaret, but one of the foundation thinkers of the Enlightenment. Not that a lot of people posting to this thread have any truck with that sort of thing, they'd rather let all their thinking be done for them by their invisible friends

Ah, so there is a conspiracy theory in the media then The media in this case, just reflects the majority's views. I don't see the media as encouraging homosexuality at all, just showing that people are all for equality, and that is a good thing and something to be enthusiastic about.

Since when have you been so trusting of the media? That comment is hilarious!

I'm not, which is why I said 'in this case'. As in, in this case it stacks up with all the other evidence around so I conclude they do not have some conspiracy theory at work; just what is your theory by the way?

My understanding (from very limited research) is that nowhere in the bible is it (homosexuality) mentioned, much less condemned.

Even if I am incorrect in that, presumably if one adheres to that proscription, one adheres to all of them? No shellfish, no pork, no shaving, no wearing clothes made out of two types of fibres, no tattoos &c?

Or is it a menu, where you can pick and choose which part of the Bronze age fairy tale to believe or not believe, obey or not obey?
