    What is the instrument that plays the Da da Dah menacing sound that underlies the whole song

    there is no sitar on this track.....

    its a guitar, strings in unison( same notes)
    bass guitar plays bass note of chord and the same note 1 octave higher

    there is brass in there too but on the b section between each of the verses playing the descending phrases

    there is also a early keyboard, i think its a mellotron playing on the really epic section that is the outro,

    my favourite song ever

    The song includes many distinctive musical patterns of classical Moroccan, Indian and Middle Eastern music. Page explained, "I had a sitar for some time and I was interested in modal tunings and Arabic stuff. It started off with a riff and then employed Eastern lines underneath.

    its actually quite easy to play even in standard tuning....but they dont make grooves like that anymore!

    fucking mint!

    even the drum parts are pretty easy but no-one grooves like john bonham!

    the edge wrote a song once......

    i was influenced by him way back in the early 80s. U2 live at red rocks was awesome gig

    then he discovered digital delay and bought a hat.........

    now hes a twat with a lot of cash and a digital delay pedal....
