Soon (thanks to Liabour) NZ will have it's first (openly) Gay "Prime Minister" and then they will try it on for the first Gay Government!

And it will be the Heterosexual public that will give it to them just they way they gave them marriage etc etc etc etc etc etc

I dont really think Robertson has much of a chance to get elected myself, maybe one day, but cannot see it being soon. Still too many homophobes around.

I went out for tea tonight and the TV was on in the bar but I couldn't hear any sound from where I was sitting, Robertson appeared to be getting a lot of air time!

My point is that the homosexual public do not have the numbers to change things in their favour without the assistance of heterosexual supporters it wouldn't happen!

So heterosexuals should stop blaming the homo's and take a good look in the mirror, if they want to "blame" anybody! Just an observation.

I'm not so sure ... the LGTB community plus the liberal hetero community may well outnumber the rest .. but only time will tell .. I would not put money on this one either way ... only an election will tell us what the majority think ...

After all conservative heartland Wairarapa elected Georgina Byer ..

Funnily enough it was reading an article with Georgina Byer that got me thinking about if NZ were ready for a openly gay PM...http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/poli...a-step-too-far

I believe it goes back much further than that.

Not gonna happen with Labour polling early 30's. And Grant Robertson (who I think is a reasonable guy, and has been quite good sticking it up djonkey and the lumpy minions in the House) wouldn't be a bad choice. Of the three running he is my pick actually. I think Shane Jones would possibly be as good but his, erm, baggage makes him unelectable as leader because all the Nazionals have to do during the erection campaign is remind the stupid about his transgressions in 2007, thus making him unelectable as PM.

Andrew Trotsky Little I had no time for, and David Fishlips wants it waaaay too much.

Whoever gets it will be a sacrificial goat. They'll be hard pressed to peg the Nats back, unless the nats score several more own goals, which seem to be overlooked by the electorate. Shortly after the election, Little will make his move.
    Keep on chooglin'

Have to agree with HDC, Grant Robinson the man and the politician looks more like the man the party need to be lead by, out of those on offer!

I think that the gay factor will work against him at this point in time but I have been wrong before.

Actually, they all have got baggage they don't need!

Still think Labour are getting more traction now on this leadership issue in TV and media circles than they deserve but when you have nothing else ... grab it!

I do wonder - given discussion in this thread and in otrhers - why many of you are talking about who would make the best Labour leader ... Many of you taking part will never vote Labour so why should you care ???

Many of you are completely anti-Labour ,.. so why do you care ??

Some of you may change your vote to Labour if there is a better candidate ... I wonder who ...??

Absolutely correct, I voted Labour "once" in the early sixties ... my "first vote" wasted, damn it! (we had to be twenty one to vote back then) Never again!

The reason it's OK for us to talk about the "labour leadership charade" is because "we pay for it" (as tax payers) whether we like it or not!
