Making my bike mint

Hey guys. I finally got some dry track time at Kaitoke yesterday, first time in the dry up there in NEARLY A YEAR!!! I had heaps of fun and the bike went okay, but it needs some work. I need:

-Better brakes (and lines). Those Akunar ones are sold out on their website... anyone got something really decent for sale (or a spare akunar one?)
-New tail fairing. Anyone know where I can get that one that everyone has that's really decent and well priced?
-Front slick. Preferably new or close to.
-New rims.... LIGHT rims!! Anyone got some in the garage they might sell?

I'm bound to buy the wrong thing on Trademe if I don't ask the wise ones here first.

My new muffler is awesome, my bike is much quieter but I have a few slight clearance issues to fix before I race it, nothing major though.

Glad to hear you got the muffler sorted, good work.

Send your old line to Alert engineering in Auckland & they will make you a line up, or locally at Contour brakes at the Waterloo station they can make them up too, think cost $95.

So where are the callipers at? have you pumped the pistons out & cleaned the chaulky gunk behind the seals? Those Kawi callipers can be made to work pretty well, but when slightly seized they suck.

Geez, don't go through Alert to get your line made up. Try TSS and ask Max for Dragon lines, ought to cost you less than that for sure.

Why not? They use HEL components & were cheaper than others I've used in the past. Contour were a bit more expensive but did them in a trice & no courier. Not to suggest taking any business off TSS, hadn't really considered that option.

Just don't use anything with ally fittings, I've got fractured ones I can show you.

Purely based on price, not putting down Alert's work at all. I've used HEL lines in the past and can agree that they are good quality stuff, it's just that I found Dragon lines and saved some coin. Could be an option...

They are lighter than a stock seat, harder therefore easier to move around on, lower and they make your bike look like a proper little race bike. For your EN I wouldn't bother, later on who knows, also lots of buckets are built from bare frames that come without seats in the first place.

Im telling ya Henk, if it wasnt for you D' be running around like a headless chicken. Haha. How do you think i could accomplish a "cafe racer" look? Or not bother?

Don't bother. Ride it first and see what you want to change because things don't quite work right. Concentrate on the nylon first, it serves two purposes. Track protection and crash proofing. Don't overlook front axle protection, it can save your rims if you wad it up and slide the bike into the rumble strips, I've seen two front wheels destroyed beyond hope of repair like this that probably would have been OK if the front axles had sliders.

Yea the front axle sliders are there and seen quite capable. Now i need to do rear shocks,exhaust and possibly rear axle. What do you do about tanks?

I got my tail section from Brent in Palmerston North. Only cost me $100 but it had a few small defects on it. Not sure how much lighter on the rims front you're going to find without spending $$ and I haven't ever managed to find a second hand front tyre. I bought a new GP 125 front from TSS for around $150 I think.

I got an Akunar line and it was fine. For the small price they charge, could you just buy one of their longer ones and shorten it?
