    Batman Returns

Watched Batman/Batman Returns again for the first time in years. They haven't aged well. I guess I hadn't seen them since I was a teenager. They're far camper than I remembered.

Michael Keaton gives it a try but he's hopelessly miscast as Batman. Doesn't help he's 5'8" and about as intimidating as a Care-bear. People went on and on back in the day about how great Jack Nicholson was but again, hopelessly miscast. Danny Devito's Penguin was well cast, but the treatment they give the character is ridiculous. Raised by penguins???? He's just disgusting. Bad wigs, awful action, obvious sets....

Big movies for the time but a missed opportunity. As so often happens in these sorts of films, you go along to see a movie about Batman and he's hardly in it!

I'm not even sure I want to check out the next two..............

Agree they haven't aged well, but then it is Tim Burton. I prefer "Returns" - Michele Pfeiffer and a Siouxsie Sioux theme song, can't be all bad.

And they only get worse...I'd leave it there.

I much prefer Returns to the first Batman and it shits on Forever and Batman and Robin.

Best thing about the first two though was the batmobile. When that thing cocooned, fuuuuuuurk!

Red 2. I had high hopes after listening to the reviews ... anyhoo, it's not better than the first one. It's like watching the second season of something. More of the same, good story, little twits, plenty of little chuckles etc... but the first one told the story, this one continued it and unfortunately, imho, I saw hi octane american cheese, great in its place, but needn't have been in the movie, again, imho. So loses somefink for the cheese factor, 8/10. Good sequel.

I really liked it. I also really like the fact that it will be very difficult to do a sequel. Neil Blomkamp must have fought tooth and nail for that.

    $16 well spent.

    8.5/10

I have read some mixed reviews of this. Saw it last night.

I thought it was very well done, for what it was: fictionalised account of real life.

They spent quite a bit of money, and you can see on screen where it went. The in-car and car racing sequences are beautifully shot, and in a theatre with a decent sound system you will get the subsonics etc. Mid 1970's so the cars look cool as hell too.

From a three act drama perspective the rivalry between Hunt the playboy and Lauda the tactician was well done, and the actors even look like the peple they portray. The guy who plays Lauda (the "villain" if you will) is superb.

also a few hot bitches with their tops off: always a bonus.

It is a bit slow in the first half, but it gets going really well after that, and I think farly accurately reflects the then- current situation in F1: Pre-FOCA so the circuit owners and FIA rule, drivers and teams secondary.

I did some casual reading after the film, and Hunt and Lauda's actual personal relationship was (it appears) not antipathic or even that antagonistic: the rivalry was created for the media. For example, at one point they appear to have flatted together.

I'm giving it 7.5/10 because the race and incar stuff is so well done. Worth seeing on the big screen I reckon.

Disclaimer: I am only a VERY casual F1 fan, so apologies for any errors on my part.

A movie would have to be astonishingly bad to get anything other than my instant 10/10 award for full frontal nudity.

Riddick. What you'd expect really. Riddick killing monsters. Riddick killing people. Tits. Riddick killing monsters. Riddick killing people. Dunno if I missed anything out. Good enough to watch, more Pitch Black than Chronicles: 7.5/10.
