I don't know that it defies belief. The wife of the monster asked a specific question, and the cop answered it.

I think he should have added that the rapist getting consent from a ten year old, means absolutely nothing not just because of the charge. But because the child is not capable of understanding.

Rapist should get charged with some form of assault charge, for the emotional and mental scarring too. 10 years is not enough.

Full stops (aka periods) are useful at the end of a sentence, you know, to establish it is the end of the sentence.
