I must say the worst I've been unfortunate enough to see was poor old Simo's one at Malaysia.

Youch - must have been injuries from that one - I doubt everyone walked away.

Worst I've seen in person was Cal Rayborn @ Pukekohe. I was standing on the inside of the track right opposite where he hit the wooden railing. Knew instantly that it was a serious one and still feel sick when I remember it.

Uploader said he limped away with a busted leg. How lucky is that.

He certainly didn't limp away. Took us half an hour to move him to a stretcher and get him out from behind the wall. He's had surgery and had his left leg screwed together with plates and rods.

5 months no walking is the current outcome. I thought it was a fatality as I watched it happening. Other injuries from the crash are bruising and limping for other riders.

3 bikes totalled 1 bike damaged 1 bike survived. Engine fins smashed off 2 of the engines, frames etc. All bent. One bike (blue one) has only the clutch and motor remaining. Everything else is destined for the bin.

Yeah limping might have been an exaggeration XD
    What part of his leg?
Still incredibly lucky all things considered, looked incredibly brutal from the video. I actually thought that wall was concrete on first watch.

Lower left leg is in more than a few pieces. The wall used to be quite thick wood. It was replaced with the current wall last season with the purpose of having some give in it. It has posts every 1.5m and is made of plywood with bracing wood along the top middle and bottom of the wall. He broke through the plywood and 2 of the 1"x200mm bits of bracing wood.

    thats brutal.
I live just up the road from there. Keep meaning to go. How much does it cost ? when do they do it ? last time I saw speedway was in the early 80s. I would have been 8 or 9 when I got to see Ivan Mauger race, he would have been Australasian champ then I think.
Best of luck to that dudes recovery :/

usually about every 3rd Sunday over october - may. Costs $15 for adults, under 15's free. Cheap beers too.

Cheers! 15$ is cheap entertainment. I keep hearing them race every now and then and keep kicking myself for not going down. Still, sitting on the back deck just listening is kewl too
