Frankly there is no one that came out of that great stinking pile of pooh without a fair amount of stench clinging to them.

In fact the actions of some of these people makes Len Brown seem reasonable - if not reasonable then at least you can understand his motivation. I guess if this is a window into the ruling classes then we are all in desperate trouble. Probably always have been....

I think this thread is way off topic discussing boring politics. Local body politics at that!

1. Men and women in positions of power and influence should not prey on their staff. In employment law that would generally lead to dismissal.

2. Men and women in positions of power and influence must avoid situations which will make them vulnerable to blackmail and corruption.

3. When a breach of these simple rules is discovered, that can be forgiven if the person shows genuine humility and shame.

Mr Brown was on tv a few moments ago and he continued to hold his head up looking into the far distance whilst smiling and making glib comments about moving on. If he has any humility any honest guilt - it is not apparent.

Compare him with Shane Jones who watched a couple of porn tapes on the taxpayer. He fessed up, didn't try to blame or misdirect, looked properly ashamed, and is more respected today than ever.
