Fair enough, though the new one has a larger fuel tank up 1.5 litres I think.

Ironically the parts and warranty for Aprilias are handled by Triumph NZ - who are the ones so terrible with getting shit done in a timely fashion.

Definitely a tough call between the S1000R, KTM 1290 and Tuono V4. I'd give my left nut to have any of those bikes. Will be interesting to see how Triumph respond, and if they up their game.

Even more ironic is that in effect Triumph NZ now are importing the BMW range too...and if you throw in the wee 800cc Brutale, same importer too.
To be fair, I see all 3 or 4 of those bikes as quite different. The KTM is a complete animal and by no means is that a bad thing.
The Triumph is the most behaved out of the group and that will appeal to a wide range of people. We chose our Tuono (and RSV4) over the others simply because of the noise factor and the easy to use electronic package.
Like the Triumph it has a longer wheelbase than say the Brutale which means that it is nicer to ride on NZ roads.
IMO I believe that the BMW will simply be 'too good' and you wouldn't get to really enjoy it unless you were right up it

I've owned a v4 tuono now for a yr and half and absolutely luv this bike it's amazing and the only place it won't go as far as fuel is concerned is into Milford sounds so I got a fuel bladder to carry if I need !! The seat is firm but it's a good shape I can ride all day , the sound is out of this world ! Great bike for that money for sure !

Aye, nice looking machine that BMW. I've been avoiding the local KTM shop too.

But when it comes to aftermarket support failures some of us have very long memories. Which isn't to say I'd never own a marque handled by Triumph NZ, just that it'd have to be priced as a completely unsupported purchase.

Comparing to Superduke, Tuono etc, it's actually well priced... or the others are expensive

170 HP , that must be wonderful to ride on our extensive Autobahn network and for weekend rides to other countries.....
