Indonesia is a democracy. It is not a theocratic state. There are only two - Iran and the Vatican City.

Indonesia is a Muslim country but then Australia and NZ are regarded as Christian countries from outside.

Indonesian law is based on Roman law derived from the Dutch. Their legal system isn't greatly different from our own.

This post actually makes the rest of the thread moot. If their judicial system is similar to ours.

Can anyone here tell me the first thing a parole board requires of an inmate? An admission of guilt is the answer.

She has had to have told officials she did it, understands the consequence, and convinced them she feels remorse.

Now, I know it's possible she said and did that solely to get out. But, would anyone here care to bet on her innocence knowing she has sworn she did it?

Man, I'd prolly admit to it to get out. Must be a cunt of a place to lose ten years of ones life like. But consider this for a mo. Admitting to the crime was not a guarantee of freedom, instead it was the first step to being at the mercy of a group of people she didn't know at all.

Now if someone were to have a bit of time on one's hands, like rotting away in a cell, that would surely need to be considered. Her right state of mind could be argued....but her lawyer had to file the application for a parole hearing, surely there was a reasonable voice there?

So given the above considerations, wanna make a decent bet that she's innocent?

You read a post by Winston which you took to mean that the Indonesian legal system is the same as ours. You therefore assumed that Schapelle Corby must have admitted to the crime in order to gain parole.
