Get over it, no ones perfect. It hasn't effected his job except for having to taking time away from mayoral duties to apologise to the public for something that doesn't effect them.

Would you give a shit if half way through designing your house you find out the architect you hired is staying for free at a motel he designed and cheats on his wife?

Absolutely correct,i guess the real answer to this is that Aucklands shit only gets broadcast to Aucklanders cause nobody else in this country gives a shit what any of em do or protest about.Far more important things to worry about ie where my neighbour manages to land trout as big as he does.

It's not just that simple, if it was, no problem, he carried it over into his work place, violated his work environment and broke rules and confidences of comparitive work practices!

His saving grace is that in their hurry to establish the position of the "super city mayoralty office" position they overlooked establishing rules of practice for the position etc!

It's a new position and such behaviour was unexpected and unaccounted for!

Embarrasment all round ... vantage pants down Brown!

Len knows this and is determined to stay put and take the money ... many Dorklanders couldn't care less but eventually the majority (I believe) will not let it rest until Len has gone!

It's a massive poker game and so far Len has not blinked but the opposition to him appears to be growing becoming more and more vocal!

It might make an interesting office sweep, along the lines of the Melbourne Cup!

My money is on Auckland Super City but I'm not holding my breath!

nah it is that simple. He is a politician so a lying shit, power is an afro... (oh stuff it,)a turn on, so he gets his end away and some hotels give him an upgrade due to repeat business (not because he is the mayor, I've even had these repeat business upgrades). Get the F over it and let the rest of us get on with caring about thing that really affect us, like water metering until the numbers are high enough to make it economic for one of the big three to take it over, your morning cupa bought to you by Coke anyone?

The architect isn't paid from the public purse. And if the other woman was a naive young employee - yes I would care.

1. With Len Brown we have a mature man who is in a position of authority and influence, a man who is popular and moves in circles of power.

2. On the other hand we have a young Chinese immigrant. Her culture tells her older men are to be respected and listened to. The Mayor of the city flatters her, flirts, calls her regularly, declares passion for her. Just imagine the opportunities and dreams she would have of where this might lead.

3. Miss Chuang was employed in and around council organisations. Older men preying on young women employees is wrong - and unlawful in employment situations. Its an abuse of power.

4. In conducting this affair Len Brown opened himself to being blackmailed and becoming corrupt. That is not an acceptable risk to the public.

5. There are cases of Auckland council staff engaging in sexual relations at work and facing dismissal. But strangely the Mayor who is at the very top of the Council doesn't face the same rules. Where is the fairness in that?

Good call Winston but I think there is naivety in both parties and they were both preying on each other at the taxpayer/ratepayer's expense!

Fortunately (for Auckland) they exposed each other! ... Unfortunately "Auckland Super City" is too naive to recognise their opportunity to escape!

I'xve seen this sort of thing in action - it's dangerous . the Council CEO reports to the council, chaired by te4h mayor .. ONLY the electors/voters can hold the mayor accountable .. If you have such rules who oversees and enforces them? The CEO ??? Who is responsible to the mayor, not the other way around.

I have seen employed staff use this situation, where there are "rules" for elected officials, to meddle in politics. NEVER a good idea.

They are employed - not elected .. should we then apply the same thing to MPs? Everyone who gets caught in bed with the wrong people must resign? (We'd have bugger all left two months after an election ...) The fact that he is at the top suggests it - if he is at the top who holds him to account? Only the voters .. and 100 turned out (only 100) to protest ...
