The only downside I see in moving from AKL to Tauranga is that your partner doesn't have a job. If you guys can survive on one salary at least for a short while (and with survive I mean food, roof and motorbikes of course...) then there is no downside at all.
But there are many upsides:
1) It's not Auckland
2) No comparable traffic
3) It's beautiful there
4) More relaxed
5) Won't take you ages until you find some nice bike roads... I mean of course nice places to go and have a hike and picnic with your partner...
6) It has cafes, pubs, restaurant, cinema(s?) etc so you guys won't miss anything like that
7) Close enough to Auckland for family, shopping etc
8) Far away enough from Auckland to not to be too close to family...
9) It won't take you ages to get to the beach
10) Its big enough for your partner to find a job or jobs (and I heard they do have kids and schools and sports clubs there, too, so here you go)
11) If you don't like it after 1 year, 2 years whatever, you can always go back to AKL, but at least you tried and you won't regret not going.

If you have a good paying job do what you can to keep it as the job market (pay and decent roles) is shit compared to where you are coming from.
The Kaimais are a nice stretch of road however it does become a little "done" after a bit.
Coro is just "there" and doesn't take long for it to lose its shine too (just like anywhere).
Obviously you are taking the piss right? Commuted much in Auckland?![]()
I dunno - weren't they the crowd that kept voting in Winston. He's big on that 'getting ahead by running down other people' stuff.
There is some fantastic riding on your door-step from Tauranga, and without having to travel for an hour down a motorway to get there. One of the down-sides is that being a tourist town you'll get frustrated with crowds and lack of parking over peak summer months. But you'll also have those beautiful beaches on your doorstep.
WELLINGTON: Tag-o-rama
Then move!!
Oh and... lookie lookie. http://www.seek.co.nz/jobs/in-bay-of...rchType=browse
Although a fixed term tenure, still a good way to get her foot in the door for other jobbies in TGA - if in fact the above is the level she teaches at, and not phased about Christian part, or the Bethlehem part if your likely to be Papamoa/Mt based
Or...

Just sayin'
No body move... I dropped my brain
[QUOTE=nodrog;1130691748]That there should be the only selling point one needs.
You're having a fuckin laugh aint ya? theres more than one bridge now. I travel from Gate Pa to the mount every day for work, takes 12 mins max.
Nope...no joke...it's easy from the Gate Pa/Greerton end....try going from the city end down to the shit hole of a round-about out towards Sulphur Point and over the new bridge at peak time - it is not a quick and easy home time commute...unless you work nights.
