The really fun bit is at the gas station when you see the huge difference between a 2.4lt four and a 5lt V8. ..

But you're right, it's mine and I love it and I am happy.

Onya that you enjoy it, but you really need to try out some of the offerings out there these days.
If you were closer to where I now work I'd put you in a few different cars that would enlighten you

I do keep up with much of the latest. The likes of Toyota Hyundai and Honda keep trying to tempt me by offering test drives. I admit that some have caught up to the Kizashi now but to get anything better would cost at least double the price and even more than that would only get me more power. Handling and bling are still at the top of the tree.

I am planning on getting it chipped shortly which will go some way to addressing that.

nek minnit they be adding an interior window wiper for next years model then...
Watch the crash rate rise with touch screen controls for stuff. Even in my 2001 Nissan for some reason the feckers made all the aircon switches same tiny size and smooth instead of the sensible big chunky controls in like a mitsi...

Just wait till there's a few more electrics on the road and more frequent fires, you know like at the moment how ipads and iphones batteries can just detonate themselves.
Instead of giggling at some numb nutrs in the fast lane whose radiator is starting to steam we'll be getting sprayed with lithium shrapnel when someones battery overheats.
Wonder how the batteries will cope with real world vibration long term as opposed to easy smooth round town roads that the likes of prius etc are usually doing.

Yeh, let's stick with a highly flammable liquid, cos that never goes poorly

Currently there' are about 6 Lithium based technologies and the batteries like Shorai use LiFePO4 which is inherently safe and why so many are being used in racing. It's been said that if petrol was just now being introduced it would be banned as a fuel for vehicles.

Meh. When I am buying a car the key criteria, in order, are: stereo. heater/a/c. price. perceived value. So I drive a 2l automatic toaster oven. But it bluetooths my phone, and I can play music off the built in USB slot.

Cars are appliances which you buy with your head and wallet. bikes? not so much.

In 10 years we'd be lucky if we can buy brand new regular self drive cars. All the tech to auto drive is now available, just has to be linked together.

With the state of the drivers in this country that might actually be a very good thing.

Already being considered and tackled. In some states in the USA the cars have been granted a permit to be on the road, but with a human still present in case of issues occuring and they can take control.

One of the biggest industrys that could be changed would be stuff like long haul trucking. Trucks could run pretty much 24/7, stopping for gas or when the system raises a service alert.

to the point if it dies it could mean an excellent car mechanically is written off.
That will never happens since cars won't be able to pass emissions or safety testing. Cars should have more and more electronics added to them, especially things like ESC and other such things to lessen the risk of crashes. Drivers are so bad that they manage to crash into trains, so they need all the help they can get to keep "safe".
