Repercussions of every man and his dog putting their bikes on hold !

They have changed the rules of engagement and now you have to reg it for 3 month min if it's been on hold !

Wait till they find a way to stop ppl putting vehicles on hold alltogether !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Hmmmm very odd

I have gone in twice this year and used the form to rego the bike for a month at a time?...had no problems at all and used two different PO's??
Both times I had the rego on hold, once after a year on hold, and second time after less than a month on hold?
...how strange not to see consistency from NZTA

Im going in to grab another months rego next week so I will let you all know how it goes

My facts on short term registration

Vehicle - NTV650 - a dangerous (ACC) shortly to be approved as a LAM (NZTA)

Placed on hold 30 April 2011

Registered on 11 August 2011 using an MR27 form for 5 days

    Cost of this was $16.17

Rode the wheels off it for the 5 days with 2,500km completed

Back on hold on the 17th August

Planning to register again this Friday, again using the MR27.

I have 4 motorcycles and been using the MR27 exclusively since the bikoi so that only one of the four is ever registered.

Go into the postshop and ask for a MR27 form...fill it in for a month Rego and it will cost you $51.87 , some postshops charge a $7 admin fee...if they do, go to another postshop! as I have found only some of them apply this charge

The $7 fee is included in the $51.87. If you wanted 2 months it would cost $96.74. They only charge the fee once. Think about it 12 x $51.87 is over $600 bucks. Oh and I just did mine for the month so the minimum 3 months is bullshit!!

    .....damnit!....my maths was off huh
Good to hear about the 3 month minimum not exisiting...I will be going in next week for another months rego (handy as I can't afford to shell out the full yrs amount...bloody ACC!)
....but I won't be feeling so smug about "not" being charged the admin fee this time

I'd be willing to bet your problem is you said "I want to register this bike for X days", instead of "I want to change the licencing date for this bike to such and such" (such and such being the last date you want it registered to I think)

The MR27 is for changing the licencing date, that it can be used to licence for a day, is really a side effect.

That or you got a wally of a post office employee. Not an uncommon occurance.

    Bike rego...Can someone confirm please...

My rego runs out Mid May 2014. I want to go to the Brass Monkey and then put it on hold for 3 months (yes, I'm a nana). Can I register for one month only, or say, two weeks only? Just asking to get the latest info. Thanks in advance.

I can confirm Drew's information. I do it all the time.

The form you're after is the MR27. You can write down the exact date you want the rego to expire and pay the fee the computer tells them to charge you.

Yes, the minimum registration you can get is 3 months as stated on the form, what you want to do is not get three months rego but instead "change licence expiry date " The required form is a MR27. Just ask for it by name when you go in.

Late to the party but anyway - change of license label - green form, forgot the proper number for it. For a 900cc god knows how much. For a 250 its about $40.
Skulls N Flames. Bye bye FZR may you have many more miles with your new owner. 600cc time soon!
