Clearly Clarkson was referring to the guy on the bridge that they had made....
'Slope' .......derogatory...
Apparently there has been numerous complaints again.
The little fella quickly came to his rescue and mentioned the supposed 'angle' of the bridge....

No doubt he also pissed off horse lovers too, making a comment ' no wonder they make these things into glue'
when he had his small testicles squashed with a pony ride into town...

He ain't gonna win....ever!

Possibly overstated, their politics aren't necessarily any more fraught with malice than any other nation's. They do have the commercial clout to indulge in some of the more nefarious activities others don't, I'll give you that, and their citizens seem unwilling or unable to moderate that behaviour. I'd like to attribute that to the heavy influence of religion and a general hugely self-absorbed, nationalistic culture. But I'd probably be letting my prejudices show.

Oh, and I'm not convinced a majority of Kiwis identify with "the power bloc that NZ identifies with", certainly not to the point they'd countenance seriously dodgy behaviour. I've yet to meet an individual who sides with anyone practicing the sort of bulk public spying the US has been found to engage in for example, of any nationality. And NZ is probably alone amongst modern western nations in having drawn an ethical line in the sand wrt US martial aspirations, and made it stick. In spite of the nonsensical addition of nuclear propulsion to the original anti nuclear weapons stance I'm quite proud of that,

But this is an example of why he has been so popular. He is a good journalist and damn funny. Don't particularly like him myself but I still think he is funny...for a cracker.

Too many people with too much sensitivity, and too much time on their hands.

It never ceases to amaze me - if people don't like what Clarkson et al (and similar individuals) have to say, why do they watch? It's a TV program. It isn't as if there are no other channels!

I wonder how things would have panned out if ' the Good Guys" had not bothered.

Assuming that the British never bothered with an Empire and the Americans focused on their internal economy.....

The French or Dutch would have taken NZ and probably Aussie.
That is until the Germans took over Western Europe and probably the UK.
Russia and China would still be as they were in the 19th Century
Japan may have taken over China as who would have stopped them,
The Germans could have taken Russia out.
Maybe there would have been no America as it would have been Spanish.
The Arabs and Jew would be doing what they have been doing for 2000 years, like bald men fighting over a comb.
So instead of the Brits and the Yanks it would be Spanish, French and Japs.
