On good authority, there are 2 Mongrel Mob Whanau left in Mango, we have seen one. The rest have moved out to greener fields. It simply is a place of peace and beauty now.

Local Sparky tells me that it never rains, there is never a frost and the temps never drop below 18c, lucky for me as I am a hot house flower! Did I mention we are heading to the Swandri shop tomorrow for some summer Mango clothes?

Nice work. I've considered buying a house there as well, but I didn't think I would be able to justify it as an investment. 3 bedroom houses and decent sized sections go for between 40-60,000. And the lake is amazing.

I've been to a lot of houses around mangakino, there are a lot of nice people around there. And the dodgier looking areas aren't actually that dodgy. The road to Mangakino is great fun, the lake is great and apparently the golf course isn't half bad. There's even a MX track out there. Pity there's not many jobs around there.

Yepper. I am looking into opportunities there, but finding people to buy into anything is not easy...

We have met heaps of lovely people there, it is a very friendly place for sure.

Some of the North Island's greatest motorcycling roads come and go from Mangakino. Just saying.

The Mrs did one of her GP placements in Mangakino. Interesting place.

    Well done guys.

I spent a number of weekends in Mangakino with family in my early years. My uncle was a the local fire chief.

Cool a safe house for pursuit evasion in central north island...

It may have changed to a nicer place but still a busy route with all sorts on the road...

Definitely a great bike road. The cicada noise in forest during summer is like something out of a steven king movie though!!!
Couple of interesting hydro dams worth a nosey at on unmarked sidetracks too.

Got lost heading that way in February, really liked the lake. Cruised through it looking for a petrol station, seemed like a nice spot .

    I don't think you'll find a petrol station in a lake.

    Now there's a business opportunity.

During the 80's I work in the town on a few occasions, it never appealed way back then. Some thirty years on, Mangakino has offered up appeal to good to turn away. In recent times, Anne an myself have said that when we purchase a house, we will do so safe in the knowledge that we could live there and call it home. Several visits to the town over the last year or so made our decision to buy there real easy, we love it there.

My uncle used to race mini speed boats on that lake. Floating pit stop, maybe. Or perhaps fuel for submarines?
