You're doing that perspicacious thing again, and early in the morning too.
I try to be accurate but my memory ain't what it was - if it ever was. I believe in the hereafter. As in, "What the Hell did I come in here after?"
Several times a day.
But I can remember posting the link to that Oxley item some time back and to his subsequent item yesterday. I think.

My bad for reposting & mis-interpreting. It seemed to be written that way late last night after a couple of Peronis.

’Twas indeed an interesting read, though.

Pretty much what I thought though.... Imagine how complex the Honda package is...
Flash back.
The race that I was thinking of where Marquez rode right through the field to win was Estoril 2010. Sadly no on-board coverage but this tells the story.

It made me think perhaps this is why we sometimes see riders like MM almost deliberately running off wide etc, to log the data for the computer to call on during the races.
Of course there are a lot of genuine mistakes but as we saw in LeMans MM running off track limits on the last 2 corners. Yes a mistake but also the opportunity to teach the ecu some alternate data. Understanding that the more data put in the more information the electronics have to call on when the Shit hits the fan.
I think this kind of thing really comes down to the new/old generation differences. The new young riders have grown up with computers built into everything.. Instead of the mindset of the computer assisting them to ride the bike, they are coming more from the angle of programming the computer to do the work for them.
No doubt that it's still largely down to how big the riders balls are, but understanding how to get it all to work together as a package
I believe a huge part of MM winning formula in Motogp comes from this believe in the electronics, he has been programmed to trust the electronics which he obviously does! Take a good look at when he opens the throttle compared to some around him, even just listening makes this stand out.
For a while people thought the CS advantage was his trust in the electronics package, he just yanked open the throttle & let the electronics sort it out . In fact he had the electronics wound back, his advantage was throttle control & feel.
Are you saying that electronics are now so good, feel is no longer relevant. If that was the case Lorenzo should not be suffering a form slump due mainly to a lack of confidence in the feel or feedback from his tyres, he should simply ' man up ' & yank the throttle open
I suspect MM would beat the rest on pretty much any type of bike . Same as Rossi , Doohan, Roberts, Hailwood & Surtees all managed to do for a period.
MM is the most complete racer we have seen since Rossi at his absolute best. Like Rossi says , he wishes he was 22 again.
