Y’all seen this? Conceptually, it’d be interesting to see how he’d go on it (if only to see where they are compared to the other manufacturers)...

Bit of a bitch fight.
Looks to me like Ducati have plans to carry on running 'open class' for the foreseeable future.

Exactly. It's one thing if you're in front; a freeze is great. If you're trying to play catch-up though, it's a whole nutha thing.
It's a bit rich Honda raising the "spirit of the rules". Dual clutch technology was banned so they spent a sum roughly equivalent to the GDP of a small country to develop a seamless gearbox.
Then there was the dropping of the "Spies rule" so that Marquez could go straight to the Repsol team - but I won't mention that.![]()

Wow that's getting ugly - and yet again Honda shows its true colours when it doesn't get its own way.
Should have produced a decent Open Class bike in the first place. Those RCV1000s are dogs.
Does not surprise me, in the modern era Ducati have never been able to compete with the Japanese on a level footing, here or in WSBK.
did ya read this bit
Thus, HRC has decided enough is enough. As a measure of revenge, HRC will produce a full Factory bike—but using the Open class software—to be given to the top RCV1000R rider at what will likely be the Motegi GP, to be used for the rest of the season. By doing this, Honda is hoping to have one of its riders win the Open class for 2014.
Dont they need to do it earlier? Isnt Motegi a bit late in the season for this?? Unless they can keep the points gap real close.
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!
'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '
So Honda is going to punish the poor bastards who bought their million Euro RCV1000 pigs by producing a bike that will easily beat them.
Way to go on the PR front Honda. Like my ol' granny used to say - when the toys are flying out of the cot, the thrower is usually the one who looks like a dick.

Suzuki is in a quandary. The only way to be sure of their bike is to put Pedrosa on it, because we know he is a front-runner. But he's asked (reportedly) for 8 million Euros, which is serious dosh in anyone's book. (He's doing a Crutchlow - I don't mind coming 12th if I'm getting paid lots for it.)
If they put Laverty on it and it runs 8th - is it the bike, or the rider? They'd be in the same situation as they were when Bautista rode the Suzuki - was the bike good and the rider crap, or was the rider good and the bike crap?
Pedro asking for $8M looks like a Suzuki, are you serious or what? sort of amount. If they don't cough up that much they're sure as hell not gonna put enough into the bike/team to make it successful, something Suzuki have always been guilty of.
With the previous bike it seemed to be a good one and Bautista is a good rider, but neither of them was a leader of the pack. Even on a factory backed Honda Bautista hasn't managed more than a few podiums sprinkled amongst the DNFs. It would've been really interesting to see what a leading rider could've done on that Suzuki.
