Of course you're right that the point he was making was very serious and worth making, in some ways the subject makes his comments worse;
his foolish comment puts every mans back up right from the start and they don't hear the rest of the message
the lack of sincerity and the melodrama in his voice also detracts from his message

To be putting your self up as Prime Minister and be making such basic fuckups - does not convince people in your ability to represent NZ on the world stage; can you imagine he makes some kind of JFK wanna be speech while over seas or makes a stupid statement - the world media would seize on it just as quickly as our own - and again content is lost

He has the potential to offend more than contribute

labor is screwed, first they come out and say some stupid policy about having quota for women in the labor party, then they go and say that they are bringing in a whole lot more female ministers therefore making it look as if they are filling quota making those women look like they have been selected on sex alone, then their illustrious leader goes and apologizes for being a man (not OK by me on any level or any context), never been a labor supporter but becoming more and more disillusioned with national so who the hell do i vote for now, maybe Kim's party might get my vote

quite frankly i do beleive that men are getting more and more emasculated and frustrated which is why family violence is on the increase

You obviously skim over the superficial - there is no quota for women in the party or female ministers, they just happen to believe that more women in parliament to represent 50% of the population is probably a good thing - most of the extra women are at the bottom of the list, so won't get in, anyway. Apologises for being a man?, Really? did you read the rest of the context or grab that one from the MSM. He put it across rather lamely, but, to a mainly female audience, and a fact that most sexual violence is committed by men against women, it was a (badly) put generic apology.......but hey, smear him across the headlines - it's men doing the smearing by the way, most women know what he's on about.
I find it far more telling, that the Christchurch Rape crisis Centre is being closed down, due to lack of funding, and from the MSM - barely a whisper - that's a more telling comment on where men and the MSM stand generally..........

There you go, but heck why let the facts get in the way of a bullshit story by politicians. He trivialises a very important social problem that needs attention, and apologising for being a man demeans the very issue he is (on the face of it) trying to address, let alone trying to get votes. He's going to lose more than he gains.
