It's not so much how good National is, more so how pathetic Labor and the rest (of the opposition) is. That is easy to see even from 12000kms away.

The majority of voters seem to be smart enough not to choose a worse option.

    Excellent!

Biff the fucktard who misuses the taxpayer's money.
A LOT of other parties can learn from this.

Good on ANY party leader who does this. Perhaps Mana, Maori, Act, Liarbour, Greens, will all take heed and learn form this.

Today on Brekkie TV - the Australian Govt's main finance man was interviewed about his newly released budget which is being branded over the ditch as a toughie. This guy went on to say - NZ went through the tough work over the last few years. He said the Key Govt is widely regarded by world leaders as inspirational for the way they have brought the NZ economy back to the brink of surplus. I for one am not saying that the Aussie Treasurer or the US and UK equivalents are right to cast the Key Govt in such a positive light. I am fairly certain however that they know more about what they are talking about than BanditBandit - on such matters.

Hey - I never claimed to be an economic expert ... you're doing the usual KBer activity of jumping to conclusions ...

I just wonder how many of these scandals and things that Key can survive ... these have hit all parties - and reflected badly on them ..

Just this year, in the Nats ...

    Williamson's gone ... interfering with a police investigation ...

Judith Collins is involved with something or other inappropriate with a Chinese diary company ...

Foreign Affairs let a Malaysian diplomat rapist go on "diplomatic immunity" grounds ...

but nothing seems to stick to Teflon John !!!

I'm pretty sure that Maori MPs aren't doing anything the rest of the group aren't. Unfortunately for them though, they need to smarten up and get better at it. It comes out loads more when any minority does anything.

I think you've proven already you're not a National supporter, but he's dealt with each issue? This latest one, she's gone. If she didn't go, they had already told her there was no way she was coming back into Parliament.

Not sure why you're complaining it's not sticking? You want him to leave when someone else made a mistake? Voters aren't stupid... actually, some are dumber than a fence post, but, what opposition is there? I would hope that the average voter would see how the country is finally succeeding, while plenty of others aren't, the financial balance is looking healthy despite some tough issues. Why would the average person want to piss that away?

On the other hand, we can have someone that apologises... for everything, including apologies...

Probably. Remember only half the country bother to vote, the other half knows its a 3 year train wreck no matter who is at the wheel.
And of the half that vote, less than half of them vote for the winning party...

It's probably because what most people see, is a couple of minutes on the news of a smiling, competent sounding (in an atrocious genuine Kiwi aksunt) bloke that answers every question thrown at him in an open, non-dodging way.

Plus they focus-group the shit out of every issue and know exactly which way public opinion is leaning.

Fuck, you never let facts get in the way of a good story, do ya?

Voter turnout in 2011 was 74.2%.
Of those 49.34% voted for Govt parties and a further 2.6% voted for the Conservatives.

Democracy, governed by the people who can be arsed getting out to vote (which is just as it should be).

    "YES"!

Stupidity is dependent upon the perspective of the beholder ... in this case you are the minority!

IMHO because you are just too bloody stuborn to accept that you are wrong!

Teflon John is simply the best of a bad bunch ... "wishing he wasn't" just doesn't cut it!
