fuck tv. .

Hmmm ... it's still a business and the Government still wants their share of profits - so they have to make profits .. telling customers to go and watch a different channel is a bad idea ... In 2012 TVNZ paid $11.3million to the Government after declaring a $14.2million after tax profit ...
Revenue comes from ads sure - but they can only sell ads if they have a significant number of viewers ... and telling viewers to go elsewhere is a very bad idea ..
And what do you mean by "better programming"? Who's idea of "better"? And do you seriously think that if TVNZ had more money we would get better programmes? (See above - the Government scooped out most of their profits - which might have gone to better programmes) They will only broadcast the programmes that show, on a cost/benefit basis, the ones that pull in the most viewers ..
When I worked in the medias there was a well-used saying; "No-one ever went broke underestimating the audience" ... The populous want to watch crap ...
"So if you meet me, have some sympathy, have some courtesy, have some taste ..."
All fair enough, but it's still only an ad that offers people a choice and looking at it any further than that is politicking and censorship.
lol@programming... read something this morning that basically said that what's on offer in NZ is shite and that people are taking up these services for that reason. If something looks good, I'll watch it irrespective of what channel it's on.

Yeah .. less stress ... I don't have Sky - only Peasant TV ... and I refuse to use a computer outside work hours ... which somewhat limits what I can view ..So it ain't free. Damn. I'll just have to keep watching all of the free stuff the internet provides... something I should be grateful for by the looks of things.

If you can - see if you can sign up for Amazon prime via Slingshot. It's also got a movie streaming service which is quite handy and reasonably priced.
Reactor Online. Sensors Online. Weapons Online. All Systems Nominal.
So slingshot get all of this media coverage, loads of people talking about their service and free advertising. Win win for them
We havent had a tv in 2 years now. Dont miss it ether.
Anything we really want to watch we get online.
surprising to realise how much time you piss away sitting in front of a TV once you get rid of it - theres a whol lot more time to spend on other things like bikes and the gym, and, god forbid, actually hanging out with people.
Sky is the limit...........
wouldn't bother with it if it were free....
It is onboard....surf it a bit at times.......
waste of fuckin time.....
ah, wait its work.....
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....
Sommet sport is my new favorite, alongside my old favorites country calendar and low gear and talking trucks.
Dont have sky, dont want sky.
Although I was a little miffed at sommet sports today for fucking up the scheduled time for the rallycross from canada, which saw me missing most of the action.![]()
For a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.Keep an open mind, just dont let your brains fall out.
