Learnt something new tonight. Presuming they are just pretty bling and serve no other purpose? As such - if you like hell yeah get in to it

Most of the colors seem a bit gauche, especially on the dirtbikes, but there are a few there that look a lot better off for them.
It's not just any old tube as it can be fitted with wheel still assembled, and it is going to take a fair few m to do a wheel, $49 seems pretty reasonable if installation/finish/longevity is good.

Yeh looks a lot more rigid than just any old tube with a slit to me. Last bit of specialty tube I got was in the 10$ per m range,72 spokes at what, 250mm each? 18m of tube, that's about $2.50 per m. Go see what sort of colored/rigid tube you can buy for that, add time for cutting 18m of slit in them, then add a bit or profit, see what price you can do![]()

In the specific way I phrased it yes, congratulations, you win 20 internet points; I have now updated my responses to include the prefix 'any old'. However, for being a cunt who slags off a product without knowledge of what goes into producing it, you're still in deficit of at least 80 internet points. Fucking tight arse kiwi bikers, and I better not mention how much I sell gas caps for, might give you some apoplexy![]()

Nah I guess what makes it worth $50 is the fact that
A) you don't have to bother with measuring your spokes with a set of verniers or googling to find the size required
B) and then finding a source for a plastic tube that will do the trick
C) added to which said source is probably an industrial firm who has better things to do then sell some minute (to them) quantity of specific specialty bit of plastic to a rando for a two-figure sum
There are plenty of people on this earth who have better things to do, than do everything themselves.
They look pretty nifty as a bit of dress-up faffery
Obviously there might be concerns about trapped moisture blah blah, suppose it's cheaper than painting / powdercoating / anodizing the spokes though.

All this talk of slits has given me a boner
I like em - reckon if I still had my old 1982 750 twin Kawa spoke wheeler I'd deck it out with some black ones. Or a new Bonnie or HD. Stealth. Cool.
Darn another boner now thinking of cool bikes ....
I have some of these fitted to my bike (but from a different manufacture) and i like the look of them, just something different and cheaper than painting or powder coating, plus when i get bored of them i can just take them off.
