Red face From riding horses to riding bikes! Noob on the loose! (Crapple)

    Hi everyone,
I’m a complete noob! Just thought I’d get that out in the open. I used to ride horses but now I ride motorcycles, well, sort of.
I live in Auckland and come from a family that enjoys playing round with motorcycles. My dad owned one many years ago, my brother now owns one and I’m hoping to get one very soon now that I have a proper hair cut and a real job! I’ve only just started learning on my brother’s bike and it’s been a blast so far but eventually I want to leave the end of the street, exceed 20 kms/h and get my L’s.
I rode a scooter while I was at uni, it was fun but I need something with a bit more horsepower now that I’ll be riding on weekends and commuting to work (which is 5 mins from home) haha! My most memorable trip on the scooter was riding home from uni in a hail storm, the wind blew me all over the bloody road, looked like I’d been swimming in a lake when I got home! I’m hoping to be on the road pretty soon on a bike This cul-de-sac is getting pretty boring, though u-turns are still freaking me out at times.
    That’s pretty much me.

Might pay to move the thread into the Angels section.
    Before the boys brigade arrives.
We are a pretty classy bunch of blokes and ladies around here though generally

Gidday cock! (Don't worry - silly family greeting, long story involves Australians........)

Riding great so far especially today. You'll be out and about on the streets sooner or later, the cul-de-sac stuff is what the BHS is about; low speed handling. You'll find it easy, especially since 4 cylinder sports bikes aren't the best things for that stuff. We'll have to make way for another bike soon!
Skulls N Flames. Bye bye FZR may you have many more miles with your new owner. 600cc time soon!

Welcome to the site ... keep up with the slow speed practice. It may surprise you (and others) how many low speed accidents happen.

    Usually not serious ..

But ..!! ... irritating/embarrassing scrapes and scratches ... on the bike AND rider DO happen ....

Oh, don"t worry you'll get that in spades! Even from those who actually know no better than yourself.
Enjoy that cul de sac and make sure it doesn't scare you before you venture out into the big wide roads of motorcycling.

Thanks cock, I haven't ridden into a tree yet (unlike the scooter) so I must be doing ok, at least I stayed away from the curb today, about bloody time! Still can't get my head around this site yet.
