I don't like them. Never have. Entirely emotional response. I've owned bikes I haven't connected with in the past and it is always a mistake as despite no bike being worse than some bike, I get dispirited with something I don't like, and won't ride it, leading to no bike again due to buyers remorse followed by briefly having some money in the bank after selling it. Usually after spending a fortune trying to make it something I do like. Only once have I divested myself of a bike without doing a thing to it and that was a Teapot.

Since I'm reference material I thought I add my point...

Then I realised it was pointless....

I'm happy with modest achievements on last years gear....

Really would like a K1200GT though.

Pillion peg positions not too good for touring...

Its why we settled for the ST... You can get a decent ST1050 cheaper than that...

You're welcome. Ankle with no cartilage in it is silting up so I suspect that arthritis is going to prevent pumping force through that ankle through much of the stroke.

    Obviously.

This isn't meant to be a "bag people's bikes thread" and I hope you haven't taken it that way. This is a "point and laugh at the attention seeking fuckwit with the terribly bigoted attitudes" thread.

I'm really disappointed at myself for not being able to get over my Anti-Bandit/Teapot/Hornet attitudes, but something about all of them makes feel like I would have compromised any ideal of enjoying life if I bought one. Even though they all now occupy what would be the perfect price point and capability that make them bargains.

Some Mountain Biking bloke is quite right in that owning a bike is partly about projecting an image. I can't do that sat proudly astride a Teapot. Or a Bandit. Or a Hornet.

I was trying to think of a bike I had no emotional connection to ... and the Hornet would be high on the list ...

I'm sorry, but I have to profess my ignorance .. what is a teapot? My only association is the older Suzuki Waterbus/Tea kettle ...

OK. Yeah .. can't connect with those either - even though they are a fully faired Bandit ... they just don't look right ..

I kind of get what you mean. Current ride is a CB1300. Given my list of criteria it ticks all the boxes.
Can service it myself without spending all afternoon just on fairings.
    Can cope with my weight.
Can cope with droning into town every day.
    Can 2 up easily.
Not too hard on my wrists.
    Not embarrassing.
Less than the cash I had available.
30,000 kms a year not crippling, financially or physically.
The list went on, largely because part of me did not want to sell the 'busa to buy something less. But the bus would have crippled me financially on that commute.

So what is wrong with it?
    Nothing.
It does everything on my list well barring I updated the bars and a few other bits and pieces to make it more of a commuter.

So why don't I love it?
Why is it a practical choice to like it?
    Is it perhaps too good?
Is it just so good at everything I use it for that it is like a good pair of slippers? Comfy as just not inspiring of passion.

I think so. The longer I commute on her the more I miss my DR350. The more I lust after adventure bikes.

Typical Honda, like the CB919. Nothing remarkable, just does everything OK. They've also engineered out the "personality/character" (aka, stuff that breaks). Leaves a soul-less ride, but you kinda end up liking it anyway, coz it's like a puppy. Happy doing whatever you want to do...

    That's about it.
Likeable enough, doesn't give you a hard on.
Doesn't get the pulse racing, but you'd be hard pushed to find a better distance commuter.
