I might be along - have no problem with whether its a Knee Scraping Tight n Twisty road (to teach learners how corner on the open road properly) or the usual jaunt along Riverhead.

Physics; Thou art a cruel, heartless Bitch-of-a-Mistress
People seem to have this misconception that any road is learner friendly if done slow enough. But as a learner I can tell you that is not true. My first 25 scared the bejesus out of me and I grandmaed it around it.
You can learn to corner properly on a laned road that's big enough for you and another car coming the other way. Peak and Old North are perfectly fine with their 35's and 45's well posted and wide enough to cater for cars coming the opposite direction.
What's the point in living if you don't feel alive?
Toying with ones mortality shouldn't be this much fun.
You cant always know what you are going to encounter on rides on new roads, who cares if you nana around a corner, its
part of learning, sometimes you just have to extend yourself a little more than you may like to improve and gain confedence.
Lets see you put your low speed car park practice to use,you CAN do it.
Political Correctness, the chief weapon of whiney arse bastards
What is the current meeting spot?
Pretty keen to do something with this weather.
Check out the first post.
All well and good once you have the principles of riding down. I personally would not take an absolute learner to a road that technical.
I rode worse when I was learning how to ride. I have never turned back from a road because of condition or difficulty. I survived. That does not mean the best way to learn how to swim is chuck someone off the Waiheke ferry rabidly shouting "swim Forrest, swim".
When I used to lead this ride I took people down that road a few times.
When all riders present knew what was ahead and agreed they had the skills and experience that they were confident to go.
Usually people who had at least done emergency braking and cornering drills and had a briefing on lane position an sight lines.
Some of those corners are a very bad place to learn you don't know about lane position or sight lines. Or worse that you do t know how to emergency brake.
All depends on the skill of the learner. Some who have not done their first thousand k I would. Not many.
Stupid phone / Tapatalk, apologies in advance.
Have you seen the 30km part of ridge road? There is no staying wide as the 2 way road Is the same width as a single western motorway lane.
I do not think it an appropriate road for the level of riders that NASS often attracts. As in people riding less than a month.
As I have already said there are other roads with suitably tight corners that are safer for a learning environment.

And just my damn luck I'm still hanging round watching people spit wine.
