Life would be so much easier if you addressed questions with a simple answer.
With the influx of tourists to our shores that add to the volume of road users, the title should read 'be bloody careful out there over summer...'
It could also read "Bikers keep away from the Bays; you are 4 times more likely to end up in hospital than riding anywhere else"
Legalise anarchy
I tend to ride a lot less over Christmas. Tourists and cops everywhere, the roads aren't that enjoyable.
Last Christmas was more driving (like to Rotorua) and then mountain biking... that was good fun...

All the facts n figures mean little really theres motorcyclists with no helmets/boaties with no life jackets etc etc dumb is what dumb does, timeless.
Be the person your dog thinks you are...
Does that mean the other 66% is not the fault of the car drivers?"Almost a third of motorcycle accidents were due to driver error of oncoming cars," said Ms O'Leary.
I did that loop last weekend, roads seemed much the same as anywhere else.
DeMyer's Laws - an argument that consists primarily of rambling quotes isn't worth bothering with.

So much bullshit in that article.
That's patently NOT TRUE. Motorcyclists were 16 times more like to be involved in a REPORTED accident, because there is much more likely to be police/ambulance called when a motorcyclist is involved. Seeing as the vast majority of car accidents go unreported, I doubt whether there's much difference at all in accident rates between cars and motorcycles.Nationally motorcyclists were 16 times more likely to be involved in an accident compared with other road users.
What the fuck is this? "Alcohol related" is not a "cause", it's a factor. Debatably the same with "excessive speed" and "road conditions". We don't know what caused many of these accidents because of these idiotic classifications. The causes of their accidents were given as:
15 - vehicles pulling across path of motorcycle
10 - alcohol related
9 - excessive speed
7 - hit an object
4 - road conditions
4 - lost traction
1 - medical condition
