Bucket of the Month - December 2014 - Nick's Kawasuki

December's Bucket of the month is Nick's 'Kawasuki'.

It's a Kawasaki ZXR250 rolling frame with a Suzuki FXR150 engine to power it.

Nick purchased the bike as a complete bucket but it has evolved steadily over the time he has been racing.

First, out came the Loncin engine and in went the FXR, this has since been hotted up to GPR customer Spec, with somewhere north of 20hp.

He's also given the suspension some thought. well, more than just thought. Yes ladies and gentlemen, that is an ึhlins TTX tucked in the back there!

Of course this was an opportunity purchase, another local racer was selling off some gear so Nick managed to snap it up for a really good price.

With a bit of work the fully adjustable (And rebuild-able) competition shock seems to work very well indeed!

He's used this to recently storm his way in to A-grade with some very hard racing and good laptimes.
This will be one to watch in this years North Island Series as well as the upcoming TSS Redbaron King of Kaitoke.

The bike was orginaly built with a few parts doubled from master fishies zxr mrk1, and the frame/ride of this bike for us riders over 100kg compared to a fxr is so much better. The ohlins has transformed the rear and it really make the tyre work. Ive been playing with the fork angle trying to get it to tip in harder in the tight stuff which seems to be my biggest challenge with the bike. And of course there is still plenty of weight savings to be made. Whatch this space on that front
Scottys (mr gpr) engine was well worth it, and if you want no hassel hp its the way to go for shure.

    Great looking bike Nick.

Cool to see how well you peddled it up at Tokoroa.
