I saw it first hand. It looked like the back locked up & it started to go sideways, the rear went left, opposite lock was applied & the brakes released immediately to prevent it spinning around it then veered left due to the opposite lock & the side wheel came up, the pilot, in an attempt to sucessfully prevent a roll over then turned right & locked everything up as hard as he could, the black lines prove that. I don't know what it felt like to you Warwick, apart from a trouser full of shit, but that's certainly how I interpreted what I saw.
As cool as sidecars ever got!
I just made an offer.
To be honest Nev, I'd rather have the sidecar than this, what do you make of the price though?

Yeah, it was a green dodkin Thruxton from the same guy I asked you about in the pm the other day, I was close to ending up with it but found velocette people (except nev of course) to be a bit too weird about irrelevant stuff.
I did my homework on that one & have some good paperwork on it. Velo people still managed to make me very uncomfortable about its authenticity.
Yeah that's a bit over the top IMO. A mint late model (1970) one sold at Webbs Auction 18 months ago for 46k NZ and by the time the buyers premium and GST was added the new owner would have shelled out 53k for it. Bloody ridiculous....but I'm not complaining...makes mine all the more worthwhile owning. I know of nine Thruxtons in NZ but none get used as much as mine and they are a cool thing IMHO and go surprisingly well![]()
