Hi kiwi-on-wheels, f2dz has asked for this 'Non Official' ride, either wait for him to write a reply or send a PM (personal message) to him direct.

I dont have his contact details or know what his plans are. I guess its a longer ride.

Hopefully you have read Maha's comments on your introduction page.

I dont know when SASS restarts in the new year.

Becareful out there lots of morons who cut blind corners up here in Dorkland

    too fast into corners
wrong position/speed on most corners entries
moves arse, but not shoulders and head
could have used brakes to reduce speed on corner entry, looks as if he is using the engine braking only

didnt seem to consider other road users, if he was in auckland he would have met one or two cutting the corner

last corner used brakes and bike stood up

I could be wrong, generally am, I am sure you will let me know

its the type of thing that SASS should ask riders, yeah I know SASS isnt formal training. But it asks questions about how people percieve what happens on the road. They could be doing this stuff too without realising it

its these things that I would like to promote along with gear, bike stuff etc.

Hey, dont show this to the kids, it keeps them busy polishing the chrome for hours, dont want them coming back in a few minutes

Focussing on the oncoming car (and whatever it was trying to do in the gutter) would not have helped.

I didn't like his lines. Could have kept out wider before turning in.
Was watching something on YouTube and was about to skip the ad but it involved a motorbike so I watched it. It was an ad from Auckland Transport and it was showing why to stay wide on corners with little flags showing the hazards. But I chuckled with the last hazard. A bit of tree. And the commentary was saying to flick (countersteer) around it. Instead the rider went over it.

Maybe it was the Prorider instructor doing the riding? not following instructions? Maybe needs a bigger stick

Meanwhile all over the AT road network there are other DANGERS such as, holes in middle of road, metal drain covers on corners, deep gravel left by road workers without signs (xXGIGGABOXx do you remember my battle with the gravel at Puni? - I have done some slow gravel work a while back, got some more to do) and of course my favourite WET TAR BLEED, all over AT road coverage network. Noticed the rider took some lines right over the tar bleed, would be awesome in the wet

and yes they did fix one of my complaints, well sort of, removed a sudden depression in road, created a flat and a smaller depressions and ridges.

The person in charge at AT re the road maintenance obviously doesnt check the road or just catches the bus/train

Anyone notice how he only seems to hang off on left hand bends - but almost never on right hand bends? He also seems to have an unusual habit of dropping quite abruptly into the bends. I find it difficult to be sure given the quality of the video, but it looks like he probably grabbed the brake rather than leaning harder into the bend. I also suspect he was looking where he went rather than where he wanted to go.

People tend to favor left turns over right.

+1 on all your points. Notice he doesnt move his upper body, arms, head etc.
He dips into corners at different places on the corner, like he sees the exit and nails it.
Almost could see that he accelerates hard while still leaned over (not really sure)

Agree with you, regarding suddenly seeing the car and then the bike followed his view, but I am not a

so Spokes how did we go?

Feel free to come along. Neither Sis nor nzspokes will be there, who are both the people that 'officially' run SASS. I'm just wanting to get out riding whilst still on break.

Open to suggestions on where to go also. If it'll be the four of us I'll still be keen for the usual Maraetai, Sandstone, Regis Lane route. The regulars should be familiar with this route too so we can take turns leading.

E Hayes & Sons is a must see for motorcycle enthusiasts passing thru Invers. No entry fee - unless you just happen to need some hardware while you're visiting the store

I can make it at 6. But only if all of us can make it then. Otherwise we can leave at 7.

The usual ride plan sounds good, but I can't lead, I'll get everyone hopelessly lost. Lol.
