If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

Try finding boots that'll set off a man bag like that better than bare feet ; don't think so.

Here in kamo, we see one of the local gang/p dealers riding around in jandals on his v rod with what looks like a 3-4yr old sitting in front of him wearing only shorts and a pushbike helmet. No footwear or shirt. Of course he is lanesplitting and going like fuck from the lights etc.

Used to be a rather portly guy in CHCH who always rode cruisers always in jandels and sleeveless tops. Always, regardless of the weather.

I have a strong position on this. Ditto not wearing gloves, jacket etc. In my world you'd be voiding your ACC cover by not taking reasonable steps to protect yourself. Same for persons in cars not wearing seatbelts.

Strong? Maybe, but I am really sick of paying for human stupidity

I can post a shed load of pictures of dead riders with all the gear on. And de-gloved feet that had proper motorcycle boots on if you want. Point is if you don't crash it does not matter what you wear, if you do crash then even all the gear might not save you from instant death or life in a wheelchair. Yes, it might reduce the odds of serious injury but the fact is if you crash on a bike it is probably going to hurt.

The best advice is don't crash. Or, for those who advocate ATGATT, why not go all the way and put a metal cage around you and perhaps a wheel in each corner to make you more stable?

Take that view to its natural conclusion and you would ban motorbikes surely? Back protectors, neck braces, air suits, where do you draw the line? What is reasonable to you is clearly not reasonable to the dude in the photo. Has he ever made an ACC claim? Have you? I don't see many crash reports involving idiots with no gloves or boots, most are wearing all the "reasonable" gear when they fuck up and get hurt.

I've ridden barefoot... Slowly, on a beach. I don't think I'd be comfortable in anything less than a pair of work boots when riding on the road, and even then my shins may feel vulnerable.

The recent hot weather has seen a significant increase in the number of the dudes on their hawgs, laid back with open-face lids, shades, jeans, t-shirt and a waistcoat. I can see the attraction, but I don't think it's for me.

I never wear gloves on my feet. Find they don't fit that well.

Next time he rides past, yell out "Gidday Akzle". See if he waves back at you.

Since when did Kamo get a traffic light?

I remember sitting in the pub up there once pissed as a chook watching the local drive though the flood waters over there bonnets. Funny as hell.

Sadly the local servo had contaminated fuel and we had to spend another day up there.

My partner survived a crash due to AGATT. Blood loss from multiple compound fractures was life threatening. So if she had skin loss the paramedics would not have been able to keep up with the blood loss. So it changed her outcome from dead to alive.

AGATT may not save your life but it will help your chances.

The Burns unit which is where you will end up if you have a slide without gear on is the most expensive medical unit to stay in for general hospital long term visits. And it is where the most screaming is heard from.

    Your choice.
