Ive got an idea for a long ride on Tues.
Full tank, empty bladder.
Keen for a good ride tuesday, rewired the whole front end of the bike today, found the headlights have 55w h3 halogens in them, so with wiring in a dedicated feed to the relay i've managed to get a MASSIVE increase in light output. Stoked. And to relay the fullbeam light should be a lot easier, just got to get a relay.
Brake light has also been fixed (i think) turns on and off correctly so far, need to take it for a good ride to check it.
Rpms in the corners... work in progress
Hi, I've been lurking for some time and I'm finally ready to get some 'edumacation' but I'm not sure if SASS is aimed at me.
Background: I was riding a VTR 250 for a couple of years back in 2007 and then I sold it after dropping it and didn't touch a bike until mid last year when I went out and bought a CB1300 (mid life crisis!).
I.e. my sum total riding experience is ~three years (though I commute daily and have done a few long rides around the North Is.)
Apart from having done the basic skills handling to get my learners back in 07 I haven't had any formal training and figure I ought to invest some effort in gaining some good skills. I figure I ought to take advantage of the ACC stuff and I'm considering some other options as well.
So, will SASS be of benefit to someone like me or is it aimed just at beginners?
Also is there a session planned for tomorrow (13/1)?

Between everyone there is a wide range of skills. Some of us are beginning, and some of us have been around a little longer. All sorts of bikes too. I turn up (when my bro isn't in town) to keep my road skills sharp. And there is always something new to learn.
The other main issue I find is that it takes a LOT of practise to over-write the bad habits and everyone under-estimates how much practise is required. Only when it turns to shit and your mind goes into "instinct" mode, do you find out. So by practising , we are training our good habits to become instinctive and not reactive. There is a big time difference there and it could save your life.
Anyway, that's enough of the serious stuff.
You will learn more if it is a heap of fun.
So come along and check it all out.
Forgot to say welcome back to Lance.
Good to see you back.
Ok tomorrow will be a completely new route. Sharry will be along again. I will be leading, who wants to be tec? I think Lance said a while back that he wanted to give it a go. We need to be away right on time, so please be prompt and be ready to ride at 7. This will be a great run to try get the lines right everytime as you will be on roads you dont know.
Rules that we need to tighten up on, main one is the 2 second rule. Lots of us were to close last week. Spread out its not a race. You will be able to watch lines better when more spread out as well. Second is speed on which I have spoken about before. Other motorists will expect us to be able to hold or be within a reasonable margin of the speed limit on the highways. If anybody is struggling with this speak up and we will work on the route to allow for this.
Update on Sharrys bikes. Im getting parts now for the CBR. Just managed to get a fork top yoke that will allow for running normal handlebars. Doesnt hurt that it looks bling. Just need to get some up and back risers for it then some new bars to suit. I need to get time to take the swing arm for welding for bobbin mounts then the frame and swingarm can go for powder coating.
Did some work on her Hyosung which Im going to try to have ready for the next track day. A lot to do between now and then but I think I can. Working on the quick action throttle tonight as she does not have full wrist movement yet. And need to make a gear shift yet....
How many bikes does she have..?
I second the two second rule. Waaay too bunched up last time.
Two, Hyo 650 which is her old track day bike and the CBR600. CBR will be her long term bike as it will be lighter and easier to ride, Im taking weight out of it where I can. Hyo will probably be to heavy for normal road work as its a bit of a tank. But as its a V Twin has nice low down power so good for her to get going on again at the track.
Any chance of a sneaky wee bit of where youre leading us? Just so i know how much of my bladder i need to empty...
I know how to ride it but not all the names, Mercer, Pukekawa, Port Waikato road, and however I feel like heading us home.
