    Is it Blasphemy?

Listening to this reporter, famous bloke from 'The Scotsman'
He said it cannot be called Blasphemy if you do not subscribe to that religion, much in the same way
Muslims could make fun of the Pope.
    Is THAT Blasphemy?

    Interesting

I must admit Buddhism seems okay on the surface of it. I would like to know more about the religion but don't have the motivation to go looking for the info.

As long as they aren't trying to push their beliefs on others it's fine by me, and the only insane stunts I'm aware of them pulling (at least in recent history) is lighting themselves on fire which, to me, only made for an interesting cover on a certain Rage Against the Machine album in my collection. And kung fu is very cool to watch.

Self immolation, what a way to go!

    Never felt it....
I saw a documentary with a Buddhist monk dead in bed and he was fresh as a daisy, no decomposition, no Rigor, nothing...
It looked like he was asleep. Skin was supple, no smell etc etc...
    Pretty unbelievable.

    Meditation to the high almighty?

Bit extreme in my opinion, but I guess it served it's purpose.
There are fanatics and misguided and delusional people in all religions, organizations, groups.
But the Buddhists seem to have some fairly logical beliefs.

Pretty amazing control of the mind.

"I was too shocked to cry, too confused to take notes or ask questions, too bewildered to even think ... As he burned he never moved a muscle, never uttered a sound, his outward composure in sharp contrast to the wailing people around"

Dumb fucker. What a dumb fucker. What do you have if you kill yourself? because there is no afterlife or any of that bullshit and you have just killed yourself for no reason. Stupidest thing ever and I hope he didnt breed and pass his stupid genes on to another generation.

When I rule you all (and I will) the criteria for obtaining a breeding licence will be strict.

Also I happened to be listening to this clip while reading this.

Pretty sure in most cases it's done as a protest not as a religious thing it just seems that the Buddhists seem to be the only ones that have the self control to do it while not showing a reaction, they are not the only ones to do it.

It is quite an effective way to gain notice of whatever you are trying to protest. Whether it'sever justified is probably a matter of opinion, I know I would never consider it. As I stated earlier it does make for a cool picture.

True. A similar act by a frustrated street vendor was enough to kick off the Arab Spring.

The most passionate discussion caused by that pic is what was the model car in the background? - Was it an Austin A95 Westminster in the back ground?

My wife and I met on a blind date Christmas eve in 1995 and the car we went out in was an Austin A95 Countryman station wagon red over white!

So as you can see these religious postings really are a source of "lively" discourse and debate!

The Monk in the foreground believed and insisted that it was a Morris Oxford!

These hateful disagreements (and drastic consequences) however can be avoided if we simply "keep it all to ourselves"!
