Support 2005 Yamaha SR250 rear stop light - doesn't get brighter when braking

Hi all - this is my first post.

    I've got a beat-up Yamaha SR250. It's a 2005 model - made in Spain.

I changed out the rear stop light assembly, which used to have two bulbs, for a new one that has just one - with dual filaments.

It seemed to be a straightforward change out - all the wires seemed to be interchangeable with the old ones.

Trouble is, now only ONE of the filaments lights up. And then, when I hit the brake lever or foot brake, it glows a tiny (almost imperceptible) amount brighter. But not enough to let someone behind me know I am braking.

The second filament doesn't light up at all.

I've changed the bulb to no avail - same problem.

Was wondering if this is likely to be an issue with:

    - The brake light switch
    - My shitty wiring skills
    - The indicator switch (I've been told this can cause issues, although it seems to be working fine)
    - Something else I haven't thought of

    Thanks

    I motion that secondly!

Pull them out. Start again. Maybe test as you go (wire brake then park or park then brake).

Also make sure your earth is chillin out max and relaxing all cool (securely).
