My bike doesn't have a fuel gauge so I have to continually open up the tank and check... Or maybe it does have one and I just can't find (?) lol

Old-school biking : Use your trip meter as a fuel gauge. Every bike you own one of the first rides you take is a fuel run. Gas the bike full, set the trip meter to "0", carry spare gas.
Bikes with a reserve
Ride until the bike runs out of gas. You can change to reserve before the bike stops (vacuum dependent taps take a long time to feed). Write down the Kms (yes write it down). Ride until the bike runs completely out of gas. write down the Kms.
If your bike has a fuel light
As above but you have to keep a close eye on the fuel light.
As SASS starts at a gas station( this is not an accident) fill the bike. Don't forget the trip meter every time you gas up and always gas to full. If cash is a problem it is a lot more worrying because you are working at the bottom of the tank.
In the early 90s bike makers made fuel reserve tanks and fuel lights give 50km at the most economic riding. I only trust it for 30km(bikes are BLOODY heavy to push) Regards Richard

We were talking last night about where you live and how we are going to have to see you home.

Especially while the weather is good, we will do another Kaiaua ride one night. Gives us a good excuse

Ok guys, If you have thought about doing a ART track day book in for the next one on the 15th of Feb. They are not getting the numbers they need to keep it viable and may not continue.

Couple of points to make. Its not racing. Nobody is allowed to cut you off in turns etc. Its very controlled. There is no mass start. They let you out in single file and in low numbers at a time. There is theory training and marshalls on the track at all times. Anybody behaves badly will be dealt with.

These are really very good and it would be a great shame if they are lost. Thread about it here, http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...highlight=15th

My call is you will learn more about riding and turns than you would in 5 years on the road. It does not matter what cc bike you ride as long as you are under 1000cc in the novice group.

For gear you need to have leather or textile that zips together and a back protector. This is for group 1 and 2. Above that its leather.

Definitely recommend this to anyone who hasn't been along before. Plenty of instructors and skilled riders to chat with and lots of teaching to take advantage of. Whether you've been riding 1 year or 10 years there's always something to learn.

Not to mention Hampton Downs is one heck of a fun track to ride

Think you're getting flanders here confused with the guy on the GPZ. Flanders was the other person on a dirty Honda. :P

Hopefully they get the numbers. Would be a shame if they can't continue.

I'd go to the next one but I'm pinching ma pennies at the moment. Highly recommend for others who are considering it though, good fun.

Seriously I wished you had put this up a few months back before things turned to custard for me.
its a much better explanation than what I got back then (I was otherwise occupied), oh well thems the brakes

I hope others give it a go.

Just go do it. Track surface is stunning, grip everywhere. Even in the wet. Its made to be grippy. You can try different lines and it doesnt matter as nothing is coming the other way to hit you. Some of the corners are wider than a motorway, 4 lane motorway.
