CBR1000RR (2014) Derestricting Japanese Model

I picked up a Japanese Imported CBR1000RR. I soon realized it was restricted for the Japanese domestic market. It also was speed limited at 185kph.

I removed the bung from the left air intake below the filter.



Next i replaced the stacks with standard ones.



The part numbers are below.

Then I rewired the ECU. Not exactly sure how this little black box works. You remove 6 wires from the grey ECU plug, they go into the box and return back to the ECU plug.



Below is the finished job.




After a test ride the speed limit is removed and the bike appears to have more power.

I'm not sure if there is any baffles in the exhaust to remove.

I wasn't the one who imported it. I got her at a very good price.

It was worth it for me; not sure about the seller.

No idea mate been a very long time since ive sat at a rally camp fire,if indeed its true i wish him well and having some experience with old TLs myself i can only imagine the smile on his face every time he rides one with the equivalent of a Southland house spent on it.

As I now understand it. The Japanese don't have any rules dictating restricting motorbikes, but manufactures do it voluntarily. I would suspect to appease the government and to prevent mandatory restrictions.

Whats the black box ie a tre?

It's made by RISE (motorcycle pro shop). Not sure how it works exactly. All I know is, it works!

I would think it's quite a popular add on accessory in Japan.

There are a couple of, what look like variable resistors. One says 7200~10000rpm, the other 10000~12000rpm. Not sure what will happen if I turn them.

You young fellas eh,surely more than enough when ridden on roads for which they were designed for,the best bits of road on such a bike you wont see anything like 185.

Obviously their cars have been limited for a good 20 years and more but I've only heard of a handful of bikes limited to anything less than 299km/h.
