    Soda blasting? PE175 Restoration

I've just started my first restoration project after ending up with 2 1980 PE175's. Both of them need a fair bit of work and clean up, one has been used and is fairly worn, the other isn't high use but has been sitting in the back of a open barn for about 15 years.

I am looking at purchasing a soda blaster like this http://www.trademe.co.nz/building-re...-842507858.htm.

Has anyone used anything similar for a resto project? I am concerned whether I will be able to get to the bottom of the fins on the barrel and head to clean out all the paint.

Are there any other methods out there that are suitable for cleaning up barrels and heads?

Also looking for recommendations on who to use to bore the barrel out.

    Cheers

Ive generally blasted heads and barrels ( with faces sealed off ) in the blast cabinet, and had no issues, sometimes it does take a bit of work
only thing being you need a decent compressor and reservoir ( one of the dirty setups we had was three supercheaps into a huge lpg tank )

second option and band for buck, pop down to your local engine reconditioner and ask if he has a cold carbon clean bath as they remove everything!

    1) that shits easy as to make out of an old air receiver and about 80$ worth of fittings/rubber hose.

    2) electrolosys is the fucking horn.

    3) since you're going to want to bore it out to fucking 225 anyway, fucken do it, then mill the head and sleeve it.

    4) this advice bought to you by homebrew, ymmv.
