    Buell XB12R fuel pump issue

Buell XB12R fuel pump issue or is it?

Ok about a week ago this problem started, had no trouble starting it in the morning to go to work it ran fine, but at the end of the day when time to go home it would not start, when you turn the key on the gauges go through there sweep but did not hear the fuel pump, check to make sure its not in gear, engine stop switch in the on position, all OK still no go, turned key off and on a few times herd the pump on about the sixth time hit the starter and she fired up.
She been going good right up till tonight when it deiced to do it again, but this time no such luck starting it, so while waiting to get picked up from work I deiced to pull the pump out, what a job that is, anyway got home and checked the pump is working fine.
So wondering does anyone no what else it could be.

    any help / advise appreciated.

    John

My first guess would be the fuel pump relay....... Assuming it has one!

Edit: A quick Google shows that they seem to have problems with the fuel pump wiring wearing through and/or poor electrical connections to the pump.

Its got me beat, turn it on does what it should apart from the the fuel pump not starting up, so engine wont start, not even turn over I mean press starter button nothing happens.

OK, I thought it was just the fuel pump not working, looks like the fuel pump uses the ignition relay and the starter has it's own if I'm reading the wiring diagram correctly. Worth checking the 3 relays and ruling them out.
Also, check the main ground terminals for loosening or corrosion.

    Relay info attached.

Bypass the stock wiring and run a lead from the battery with a switch in it. That will tell you if its wiring and you will be able to get to Paeroa.

Or beg somebody to ride bitch.
