Solar panels cost a hell of a lot more than concrete, and you need at least 30% more panels in concrete than you would on rooftops for the same amount of energy. Plus all your extra bits for grip and modularity etc. Creating green energy generation system which uses far more energy to create the components than is necessary just seems like a shitty plan.

yes i know . . but not what we were told from those dumbarses in wellington
i think even nz complained about china dumping stuff
back to these solar panels
i havent heard anything aboutchina dumping the panels in us
what i found strange was 1. a sudden flurry of anti solar panel media
then 2. how the us utility companies couldnt cope with the peak production
and . .i think ,they also complained about loss of revenue
then pow
tarrifs were in place
seemed like tail wagging dog . ie big business pressuring government
didnt hear anything about dumping . admittedly i didnt look too deeply into the matter
.so
links if you have them
ill go back and revisit the sordid affair

So the American trade board voted to put tariffs on energy products entering the US ...again why am I not surprised ..... The EU did the same .....hmmmmm
The US International Trade Commission (USITC) has officially voted to uphold the findings that Chinese and Taiwanese PV manufacturers have been dumping their products. The tariffs against PV imports will follow the Depart of Commerce’s (DOC) decision which was released on Dec. 2014: anti-dumping and countervailing duties (AD/CVD) will be imposed on Chinese PV imports and anti-dumping tariffs will be imposed on Taiwanese PV imports. This decision finally closed the latest and most publicized AD/CVD case involving China, America, and Taiwan.

Ok so far until up find out who is doing what and where ........
Then he added what is beginning to sound like a solar version of a shell game. Varadi argues that SolarWorld “is a German company which raised money in 1999 in Germany and is listed on the German stock exchange. SolarWorld has some holdings in the USA.” To which SolarWorld America points out that they descend from an American company that was founded in 1975. It has gone through several changes of ownership, the most recent being when Solar World (German) acquired it in 2006.
However Varadi points out that “eleven Chinese companies raised over 2.1 billion dollars of capital on US stock exchanges during the years 1997 to 2010. The miraculous ascent of the Chinese PV industry started when this money was raised for them by the most prestigious US underwritersMorgan Stanley, Credit Swiss First Boston, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Lazard, Piper Jeffrey, and CIBC World Market. Ownership in these Chinese companies mostly by US investors ranged from 5 to 90%.”
At which point one starts to wonder how to determine which company is Chinese? Which is German? And which is American
now with all this zero interest money floating about
we have .....
SolarCity.
The company — the nation’s largest provider of rooftop solar systems, with more than 80,000 customers — has not made a dime. And, frankly, no one quite seems to know when, or if, it will.
But SolarCity has captured investors’ imaginations and become a potent symbol of a stock market ascent that makes the vertigo-inducing heights of Twitter seem tame. SolarCity’s share price, which closed at $59.27 on Friday, has soared more than sevenfold since it went public, and the company, which did not exist eight years ago, is valued at roughly $4.9 billion.
Depending on whom you talk to, the rise of SolarCity and similar companies is either a sure sign that solar power is finally having its day or that yet another mania has gripped the markets. Two other companies, SunPower and SunEdison, have also exploded in value. In all, an estimated $13 billion was invested in solar projects in 2013, a tenfold increase since 2007, according to GTM Research, which tracks the industry.
Someones making some coin
So wall street , invested heavily in solar , the Chinese made too many panels which they dumped at below cost on the American market to which solar city made a bucket of money installing these low cost units * low cost to buy * ... Wall street did very well thank you very much
the utility companies cried foul http://www.cnbc.com/id/101319945 ( look at the chart of who had the instalations ,,,,,ohhh eeerrr ) and the govenment closed the door 2014 AFTER THE BOYS MADE A HEAP OF COIN .........
Uncle shylock
Mean while the solar industry was actually saying it was a good thing as it provided a lot of work etc ...
WASHINGTON – Rhone Resch, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), released the following statement today in response to new U.S. trade petitions filed by SolarWorld USA against crystalline silicon solar products from China and Taiwan:
“We oppose today’s escalation of the U.S.-China solar trade conflict. More litigation is the wrong approach.
