Spokes - would be good to talk about tyre heat.........

really noticeable on the narrow Scorpio tyres - so little contact patch.

Bike works much better with a little weight added and I scrubbed off some of those square shoulders I have been building

have to get the tyre pressures just right and I have to check before almost every ride

Sorry wont be there next week - got those rocks to break at Waitakere Quarry
so will miss the tyre heat stuff , but you will have the balls

Got the dates wrong - rocks for brains

twas a great ride, I tried some stuff and its starting to work, better control - needs more adjustment (Levers) and practise.

Speaking of tyres, how did your new ones go on Sunday, Rob?

I'm wondering if I should be changing my rear tyre before hitting the track again. Sitting at approx 3mms in the middle, sides are fine..

Very well. See pics above. They tip faster and it seems easier to hold the lean. Rear has a bit of a flat spot but thats reducing quickly. Say there is a good few more track days in them which is great. Happy with them.

Some may say the Hawk wont be doing much more commuting and Sass work now......

IMHO they tip really nice, they feel like a giant gorilla gripping the ground, they feel fantastic - I know, its amazing how they gave me confidence, and I was only along for the ride. Enabled me to totally look up thru the corner at the top of my visor, just like you see on the track. Great sensation.
Cornering was just blip,- it was over, unlike my long sweepers

riding was smooth and predictable. learnt so much about position, speed, traction, angle, braking..... everything really what an eye opener! So much more than what I was told I would learn.
If youse get the opportunity take it with both hands. and we wasn't going fast at all.

I thought 6 months ago that the Hawk may have another purpose, as a commuter

F2dz, 3mm is it going to rain? Might come and watch evening 27 Feb, you will have to remind me

I'll keep an eye on the forecast - might book as late as mid next week. Sorta depends on how my back is doing before then though. My physio said I had to take it easy for 3 weeks.

What are you gonna be riding if you're tracking the Superhawk, Rob?

Essential info for the newbies to SASS:
South Auckland Street Skills or SASS

WHAT: Learning and improving Riding Skills
    WHEN: Tuesday Nights
WHERE: Meet at Z (ex-Shell) Service Station, Cnr Great South Road and Taka St, TAKANINI (the one with a Burger King)
WHO: Riders new and old, and anyone getting back into Motorcycling (must be legal & hold a motorcycle license).
Weather and venue permitting - Heavy Rain may mean that we are watching DVDs. Showers are OK, look on the thread for more up-to-date information.
Depending on the number of riders and their experience levels, a short ride may be included to practice further skills. If there are enough riders, some nights can be split into two different groups.

    Some nights may include:
Practicing essential skills and techniques in a quiet carpark
On-the-road practice which may see you doing up to a 1hr - 1 1/2hr ride.

    WHY:
    - Practice essential skills for staying alive on the road.
    - Practical help with your riding.
    - Fun times with fellow riders, with great stories and discussions.
    - Build friendships, solicit advice and pick-up riding tips.

MEET at Z station Takanini -----------> before 6.55pm

    START ride -----------------------------> 7pm

FINISH ride at ex-Manukau City Council car park for slow-speed safety exercises -----> usually 8pm-8.15pm
(next to the new Manukau train station & opp. police station)

SOCIAL time @ BRONCOS after car park exercises -----------> 8.45pm-ish

Cost: Nil, nada, zip, zero, nothing... Just your time and attention.

Details of what will be happening each week will be posted on this thread. So kick the tires and light the fires... Let's ride, aSASSins!

    Disclaimer:
The SASS activity is intended to give any riders advice on their riding and to practice their skills in a safe and relaxed environment. The organisers of SASS are NOT responsible for any rider, their machines and/or any persons involved. All people attending SASS do so at their own risk.

tonight MERCER RUN + I want to try and remember the route.
Its easy following someone else or being green. How else a I going to progress to RIC or TEC? By backing myself.

8pm usual place (I work till 7+ most nights) even making SASS is a hassle.

gentle pace - I need to chill.

no balls no pub, t'will be dark.
